I definitely like the sound of the ball physics being improved.
Are you seeing lower apex on downhill lies & higher apex on uphill lies ?

Great read Doyley. As others have said thanks for taking the time to put that together. Really informative and promising.
Did you by any chance notice if the book view has changed at all?

Great first impressions. Have they changed the scaling on partials so a 90% swing goes roughly 80-90% distance instead of 50% distance like in 2K21? I could see the new chipping getting very frustrating if they haven't. I was specifically looking out for this in the videos yesterday and sadly mathematically it still makes no sense I think that's because it's not supposed to be a 1:1 relation between power and swing length. This was said by HBCraig when 21 launched. The % is % of your swing not power. He put it that IRL when you want to do a half swing or 3/4 swing, you are not hitting 50% or 75% of your total full swing carry. I do understand that but translation to a game is tricky for some. It doesn't help those who play with distance meter off as the game was designed to be played with it on where you set your intent with the marker which adjust the perfect point on the meter. You then swing to hit that mark. It was never intended for us to play by feel and that was said by HBCraig at the time. He said if you want it off, go for it by all means but will be more difficult as that's not the intention behind the swing mechanics. Unfortunately for some, it will always come down to hitting the practice grounds and practicing where on your swing hits what distances rather than simply using math to be a 1:1 which won't work. If peeps don't want to put in that practice, they should play with the meter on as intended.

Excellent information. Like everyone else, can't wait. I'm sure whatever comes out, we'll adapt to it.

Are the skill points/fittings tied to VC?
I guess my question is can you "buy" a maxed out MyPlayer on Day 1 or do you have to grind the game? Also, do you have any idea what the grind is like? How much VC you earn vs how much it costs to upgrade your MyPlayer/clubs? Basically how long would it take to max your MyPlayer?

From everything that's been shown, this game is going to be quite the grind. There's no way to completly "max" your player out, either...you cannot be a "99 overall" ever, according to the videos released yesterday. There's always a give and take with the attributes. Fittings themselves cannot be bought with VC...they happen over the course of playing the game. Same with Skills, I believe. There is a VC "fit fee" when doing a fitting, and you do need to buy the clubs with VC that you want fitted. But the clubs themselves are cosmetic. They also will charge VC if you want to be refunded a skill point so you can apply it somewhere else. The only area that seems to allow VC to help you out is with those consumable ball sleeves.

Also, meant to ask, will you guys still have access to the data behind the scenes on the new release?

This is also how 2K21 was.

Thanks for this write up. My major beef with 2k21 was the lack of a realistic distribution of shots (extreme hot zones near where you're aiming, and then way right, and way left, and virtually nothing in between). Very happy to hear there's a better distribution.

It does sound like they have made a number of improvements to the overall gameplay, looking forward to trying it out once it releases. I particularly like the ball stopping more quickly on approaches without necessarily having to add spin to it. I don't have to do anything crazy when I play golf to achieve this and I'm no pro š I'm not sure there's any way to make all the chipping/short game shots work close to real life ones. There are so many different shots that can be played around the greens from the low run out type chips to short mini flops that just pop up in the air and everything in between. When you hit them they all feel like full shots designed to land on a specific point rather than just a partial of an arbitrary swing length. I like the idea of the shortest full chip being 20 odd metres or whatever it is though, it should make the chipping feel more realistic. I agree but IRL all these shots occur by āfeelingā a swing length and ultimately we will get that feel for the partials on chips flops and pitches after a day or so of playing. I think by resetting the intent on each shot will give us consistent swings that we will learn what carries 5,10, 15, 20, 25 yards with the basic chip swing, itāll just take practice. Same goes for the flops and the bump and runs Yes I agree with that too, I'm not complaining about it, I'm just saying in real golf I don't have an arbitrary swing length for chips with every wedge/short iron that always go X distance. They are all "full swings" that hopefully land on the intended point to get them in or close to the hole. It sounds like the short game is a good improvement on previous versions though so I am looking forward to checking it out. I prefer the idea of using the same wedge for various distances because that is what you do in real golf. Or sometimes different wedges for the same distance depending on the type of shot needed. I have the game on pre-order so I'll have a play around once it downloads.

Fantastic read Doyley You've summoned up the new game beautifully and have put a few names at rest , looking forward to the new game 100% now and with you saying that masters will be a part on TGC tours , happy days but PLEASE could you and the boys consider taking the aiming marker off on the true sim tour, that's my only real request , please consider it . Cheers You should take that up with the TST staff as they are the ones to decide TST settings.
