I watched Andre his stream on YouTube and there are no leaderboards...that's a big disappointment. Online competitive has no leaderboard whatsoever. Dont understand why 2K left this out in the game. I do like the archetypes, but I dont like the golfball sleeves or whatever. You have to buy golfballs with vc to play the game? Typical 2K. Moneywankers. Pay to play...that's what it is! The marketing literally revolved around the phrase 'join the leaderboard' haha and there isn't one for multiplayer. You couldn't make it up!

In terms of the game itself with default equipment I can totally relate to Doyley's original post. It's really good and I agree with everything in that post. The more I look at fittings, balls builds etc I really do fear TGC Tours will be markedly different this time around if they don't introduce the ability for societies to lock certain equipment. Fwiw though I really don't think they'll scale this stuff back. Feels like the series are targeting a very different audience from here on. My one saving grace is that the small scale true sim societies I play in on xbox can just go invite only in settings and use the honour system for us all to use the same equipment. Here's hoping when the dust settles there's some give and take from the devs. Do you thing your golfer will be overpowered will all club fittings maxed Craig?. I was hoping they will be more like the pro's builds in the game.

Just played my second rd and shot -3 on series x. No graphics issues or framerate problems. Short game swings are all twitcy very unsmooth. Getting used to puttin as it is similar to 2k21 at release. I rufuse to use what they call skills and I call dumbing down to make game simple. Sticking with default ball also. Overall I like game. Used master swing and feel no need to calibrate. I think most sim players will not be using the arcade skills and conditions changing balls also Probably true, although I 'get' what they're trying to simulate ... we've all seen players go on streaks (good & bad) that seem to snowball.
But, for those of us who try and set for shooting a 'normal' PGA player's score range when we play well, there's enough of that with our games already

I haven't fitted anything yet but I do worry all the things I like - tough short game, punishing swingplane, hard to judge downhill putts etc - will be ruined with overpowered fittings or balls. On default gear it feels really tough and skill-based. And very playable without vibration which is a nice surprise. I really hope all the fluff doesn't undo all these great mechanics.

The balls should stay the same, but I would get rid of the roll attribute altogether. It doesn't do anything outside of the silly green speed change. The roll out on other types of shots is dependent on the shot type, distance, spin rate, wind etc, not this idiotic idea that the ball type changes how fast it rolls on the green. I would like roll to disappear also but so too bounce, with spin to only affect spin on the green, not wind effect. That's what they should be about, flight and spin. Other than this, the fittings received should be in tandem with your archetype. Choose power and the fittings you get should be linked to adding power and reducing accuracy or perhaps a reduction in power and a very slight improvement in accuracy, but only for power archetype skills only. Perhaps you can still receive all these fittings as is for all archetypes, but they are archetype based as above and you can only use them when you are that archetype. Should be able to save each archetype setup so change archetype and what was attached before is removed and what is saved for your new archetype is loaded which only attached the fittings for said archetype. This picking power and then fit everything to round all stats and basically remove your archetypal characteristics is stupid.

There are 2 things that would solve the problem. Obviously one is for 2k to add the ability to lock in a ball type in societies. To be fair this will also make a mockery of their own societies so they might well look at it. The other is if the API can detect which ball is in use? Can it? And if so would that be doable to administer? I'm in the Friday crowd so not played yet, clearly I have more sense than money Looking forward to it from most of the initial reports. Remember this is VERY early days.

I don't know who this granville/stopits is but I'm telling you 2K will loose money because of this and they have upset loads op players by removing the leader boards it was a dumb move, and if you can't see that you dumb too.

Oeeuf, you're 1 of those! 🤦 tbf, the definition of “sim” seems like a subjective definition. It’s not “sim” if you use a golf ball readily available to anyone yet we use a controller to play a golf game while sitting on the couch. It’s not “sim” to splash from the grass or use the scout cam yet there’s an arrow and partially filled circle indicating wind speed and direction. A video game is a video game is a video game, and “sim” is a style of this particular game, the only difference being the number of aids selected for use. Because of launch monitors and the indoor golf simulator industry, many of us think of swinging a club into a video screen when the word sim gets tossed around.
