My third published course is called 'Highway 61 Revisited G.C.
The Inspiration for this course came from a course I played as a youth in Maplewood Minnesota. "Keller Golf Course " Is a Championship Golf course opened in 1929. Keller has a storied history unmatched by any public course in Minnesota. Owned and operated by Ramsey County and open to the public Keller Golf Course is a classic parkland golf course designed by a county civil engineer named Paul Coates. Keller is among the most distinguished courses in the Twin Cities.
Keller Golf Course significant history:
Major championships:
1932 PGA Championship
1954 PGA Championship
1949 Western Open
Home of the St. Paul Open from 1930 - 1968
Home of the Patty Berg LPGA classic from 1973 - 1980
Hosted the USGA Public Links in 1931
My design includes semi accurate routing and elevations. I took some license on distances and bunkering to provide a more challenging game play. I did my best to build the clubhouse as I remembered it from my youth, as it was the original 1929 version when I played there ( it has now been replaced by a more modern clubhouse ).
"Highway 61 Revisited G.C." is a par 72 parkland style course, playing a whopping 7990 yards from the tips. There are 2 other tee choices that allow for a less challenging game play experience.
Some may be curious about the name. "Highway 61 Revisited G. C." is named after a famous Studio Album and song by Bob Dylan ( Minnesota's favorite son ) released in 1965 by Columbia Records. Since the course is located off of Highway 61 in Maplewood Minnesota, and it is a course from my past, and I revisited it for this build, I thought the name fit.
ALERT!!! As you search for "Highway 61 Revisited G. C." make sure you include the G.C. in the search as there is another course in the data base with the same name but without the G.C.
Highway 61 Revisited G. C. has been approved by TGC if that matters at all:)
Enjoy your rounds.
