With a new game anticipated (if not yet formally announced), we have decided to make a few changes to the upcoming design contest schedule. Typically, new games for this franchise have released in about August, which would be in the middle of the upcoming CC contest. Add to that a further month and a half of designing and two months of judging on what might be an 'old' game and we no longer think that contest makes much sense. So, the short update is that we won't run the CC contest this summer, instead leaving a break into Season 9. Sorry if that disappoints, but hopefully the rationale makes sense. Instead, Season 9 will see a slightly rejigged formula. I've added dates below, where X represents the first day of the month after the new game is released (i.e. if release is August 21st, Dream Team would start on 1st September etc) and the number being three months. We will be able to update these for more clarity when we do have a release date. Love seeing Dream Team and World Cup no longer running back to back. Fingers crossed we see some solid updates to the designer in the new game (splined OB please!!!)

Might have missed something obvious, but will there be a rookie design contest? Not sure - ErixonStone usually runs that on a separate schedule. Likely dependent on the new game as with the rest of the contest dates. |

Waiting for an official announcement from 2K, but it looks like we'll have a new game in mid-October, based on pre-order info on Amazon. 2K posted something the other day that more info will be made public on Monday, Aug 22. But, if we do get an announcement that the new game releases Oct 14, then registration for the Rookie Contest will open up on October 15 and the submission deadline will be February 28. |
