Hi all!
I've been monitoring the recaps for this week and following along with the scoreboards to get a feel for each flight and what kind of courses will work best for everyone to get the most enjoyment out of the tournament. So far this week I've seen some positive and negative feedback for Atherstone Dunes, with a slight edge to positive, I believe.
I'd like to provide this opportunity for feedback on the course to help with selections going forward. Keep in mind that selections are made well in advance, so most venues are already chosen through June. Also keep in mind that feedback such as "I didn't like it" or "it was great" doesn't help much either. Feedback on the topics below are the types of things that can really help me:
- Difficulty (Too easy/Too hard) - Greens (Too sloped/Too Easy) (Too firm/Too soft) -Fairways/Length (Too narrow/Too Wide) (Too Long/Too Short) - Theme Selection - Course Appearance - General feedback on what appeals to you and what doesn't
Additionally, I'd like to provide an opportunity to allow playtesting for venues that could possibly be under future consideration. This week's venue is Jasper Peak Golf and Hunt Club as a possible host for the Boise event in July.
My pros: - Change of pace with Alpine theme and major elevation changes. - Location is appropriate for a Northwest event. - Tricky tee shots and fairways, but very holdable greens for scoring opportunities
My cons: - Doesn't look as good as newer themes, due to Alpine limitations - Could be tough in high winds to find the fairway (Hopefully negated by May update) Over the next 6-8 weeks you will be seeing a mix of themes, harder courses, easier courses, long and short courses, so I hope everyone will enjoy the experience, and I appreciate all of the feedback to influence the selections beyond and through the fall.

Played the front nine just now... I really enjoyed it and definitely feel it fits the northwest style (having played some courses in the region IRL).
It's challenging, particularly when it's windy, but not unfairly so. I would love to play a course like this on tour.

I'm surprised as well. Maybe post on Web B & Web C forums as well, see if they have any thoughts.

Not tried the course yet but really enjoyed Atherstone Dunes.9/10. I enjoyed the difficulty and the pace of the greens.

Also, Soggy Bottom is a great course, if a little easy (not played my rounds yet-hope I make the cut now I've said that). If you're not driving well though you may struggle behind trees, so that's good for difficulty. Pinehurst will test people's short game with those convex greens. I like different challenges week to week. I'm very intrigued to see what the next set of courses will be.

theclv24, I would give us as much lead time as possible to be able to give us the time for our feedback. (just a suggestion)
I can't wait until Pinehurst. It's in North Carolina, my home state, and I have been there. A golfer's heaven.
Yes, oswinner, our short games will be tested!
Soggy Bottom can be difficult in higher winds. I so wish we could all play in the same conditions. Soon, I hear.

However, there are always unexpected circumstances that arise that could still delay it. But there's a good chance that next week's tournament will be played under the same wind conditions for all.

The current openings in the schedule being voted on in this thread and the Week 19 thread are 8 and 9 weeks out, so that should leave plenty of time. Most of the polls I will be posting in the coming weeks will be for venues in July, August, and September. I also look forward to the Pinehurst event, I wish I could play in it. I have friends who have played the course, and I've played it on a simulator before, but it's my goal to play the real thing hopefully in the next few years.

Just played it. Shot -3 after going +3 down after 6 holes. Nice little course, I wouldn't worry about using an alpine theme. I like them, a good diversity of themes is always good. Wind update will be out by then so same winds for everyone. It will be a good challenge.

I also assume the features available in the disk version will soon be available to d/l as PS4 content at a price? JC

theclv24 A quick question. I am sure I am in the minority saying that I wish we were playing the 'US Open' Pinehurst #2 instead of the blue tee one. What is the thinking here? Too tough? Webbers not allowed to play this type of venue? Too much anticipated complaining? I believe that course would be a good challange for the webbers and a course like that forces you to improve your game.
Thanks

Thanks I completely agree, played the blue tees version last night in 12 mph winds and still found it very easy (-10) will be another very low score here, which is not normal of pinehurst

Hey guys, I hear you about Pinehurst. I generally prefer to always play the harder version, as well.
When I took over the Web.com schedule it was already slated for a June event, so I chose to keep it in. At this point, once the course has been announced, we have a general rule to not change the course. It's not fair to the people who have been practicing on the Blue Tees, and it's not a good practice to be changing courses a week before the event anyways.
Additionally, it can be tricky to balance the difficulty for Web A and Web C. I can't say I thought it would be a good idea to ask the Web C crowd to play the US Open version of Pinehurst for a regular Web.com event.
With that said, I think the Blue Tees still has some bite and could prove to be more difficult than expected under the pressure of tournament competition.
