For those who are interested in how the game plays on the Deck, all I can say is incredible. You can turn up those settings for a fantastic looking golf game and have an amazingly smooth framerate experience also, never thought I would have a full on golf game this good on a portable device. The right stick position does take some getting used to for this game but there is always the option to connect a controller anyway. No excuses not to got my rounds in when away on holiday now . I did have the game on Nintendo Switch but hardly ever played it as it is such a really poor experience compared to PC and my PS4 Pro , this feels and plays like on a desktop PC. Anyone on the fence on getting a SD to play 2K 21 on the go, you won't be disappointed with how it plays the game.

You are absolutly right. I tried PGA 2K21 yesterday for the first time on my deck. It felt very good, though you have to rearange your hands a little I wonder if we are allowed to play our rounds with the deck as well or if we are breaking some rules, because the controller feels very different from my point of view.

Only way to tell is to play a round and see if the “fair play” email arrives…

I think you can also contact them by sending a mail to commish@tgctours.com and ask if they are willing to look into api data from another TGCTours flight (which you don't belong to) to prevent you from risking any demo marks.

Can you hook a mouse up to a Steam Deck? Asking for a friend Yes I have used a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard on mine. You can connect a USB C hub and connect a mouse wired also or keyboard wired . I haven't tested the game yet connected to a monitor/TV but assume it will run the game like a medium to low spec laptop. Might give PGA Tour 2K21 a go at 1080p later as I bought a hub recently to use it on a bigger screen.I am sure with a few graphic tweaks or even the Steam Deck's native FSR 1.0 I can get the game running pretty well at 1080p. It is basically a PC with Linux as it's OS and a custom Steam OS also which is great.

I am back from my holidays and I have played the last 3 tournaments on my steamdeck. There were no issues and no fair play email, so I guess the controller is fine. My long game improved a lot with the deck controller, but my short game was way worse. I miss the vibration telling me when to release the shot. But for the forst time I was able to hit with more than 101% of power. From my experience it is fun to play with the deck, but didn't score better.

Had a Steam Deck on my radar for most of the year as an entry level into PC gaming, always been a console gamer up till now. I want to play current games through Steam store but would like to revisit games from yesteryear through emulators. Worried that being a PC novice it’ll be too challenging getting everything up and running. Any advice would be appreciated & generally would you recommend the Deck?

The Steam Deck is certainly worth the price, it is very powerful for a handheld and the the whole Steam OS experience on it is excellent. It is not too challenging to get emulators up and running and EMUDEC www.emudeck.com is just excellent, there are so many YouTube videos that help you get those roms up and running. Emulation Station is a great polished front end for you rom collection. So if you are looking at using it as a emulation machine you won't be disappointed with it. It with play your AAA games of today pretty well, it will not play games like current gen consoles can but more like last gen quality. Here is a good review video from Digital foundary. But one of the best things about PC gaming is games are much cheaper than consoles or a handhelds like Nintendo Switch, with crazy sales and key sites like Humble, Green Man Gaming and Fanatical. Humble Choice monthly is great way to build up your Steam collection for a nothing price and you actually get to keep the games not rent them.

Thanks for the information Hammers….I’m sure I’ll pull the trigger & order the Deck in the next week. A few doubts creeping in about Linux & compatibility issues with some software including EA which is a worry because I want to play the new golf game on it. Ayaneo was another option but the lack of after sales support is a big issue even though it’s a more capable handheld. Did you get the 512 Deck & do you find the display good enough? Some reviews say the display looks better on the 64 or 256…??

Questions: I see varying RAM sizes for the Steam Deck (64GB to 512GB). If PGA2K23 is the only game you play, is 64 enough?
Do you sign in to the Steam Deck with the same Steam account as your PC? Playing the same profile?
Thanks for the answers!
Onward!

The price tags of the AYA Neo 2 range are quite expensive for handhelds I feel, if you were interested in getting into PC gaming and paying close to £1000 I would advise buying a desktop as you could buy a very capable second hand gaming desktop for that money unless you really wanted a handheld PC. I bought the Steam Deck 256 version which has a glossy screen which is pretty much on par with the Nintendo Switch non OLED, PS Vita non OLED screens from my experience of owning them all. There is the option to dual boot windows and Steam OS on the Steam Deck so Linux compatibility issue won't be a problem as you can just run Windows for certain games.

The answer to your question is yes 64GB storage is more than enough for 2K23. You could always get a Micro SD if you want to put more games on it and a 256 SD card is really cheap. Games run absolutely fine from an SD card, I have a 256GB card installed on mine.
