Week 37 takes us to Calamity Bay GC by mattyfromcanada . The course takes inspiration from the California coast, specifically Monterey Peninsula where you'll find courses like Cypress Point, Pebble Beach, Monterey, and many other amazing courses. This course has plenty of challenge and conditions should make it tough this week as well. Good luck with some of the course quirks, as it is meant to mimic an older golf course that includes weirdness like trees in the middle of the fairway on 18. Anyway. Enough gassing up Matty. Please feel free to comment here and tag him with comments about how much you hated his course. Thanks! From the designer: Calamity Bay takes inspiration from the many courses along the Monterey Peninsula, Cypress Point being the main one. The course works its way through large dunes, pine forest, and old cypress trees before you come to the 13th hole which signals the beginning of a dramatic coastal finish. The 18th will require thoughtful shot making as you weave through the large cypress trees one last time.

-20 at the halfway point. I enjoyed trying to use various slopes to advantage, not so much the trees all over the fairway on 18 though 🤣 I'll wait and see where I end up before playing any more but hopefully it's enough to make the cut.

Yes! Good! More complaints about the trees! They are dumb (even if the real Cypress #18 has them) and mattyfromcanada should hear about it so tag him with all complaints.

Okay, let's see here... To the esteemed "Matty from Canada" (not even tagging you, I'm that petty ), if that even is your real name. You don't know me because this is the first time I play any of your courses competitively, and I don't know you. Which says something because I know all the cool designers. So you must be an absolute nobody in the community, which I understand. You're still learning the ropes, and this course shows it. However, I am here to comment on my experience on this golf course because I was asked to. And my goodness. I thought the course smelled terribly. Was it built next to the garbage dump, or did the sewage smell of that 18th hole really get that bad that it started spreading all over the course? I mean, I get that all those trees need some nutrients to grow, but come on man. The amount of bad smell all over the course caused me to become completely unfocused, and made me miss so many putts, way more than I usually do. That happens absolutely nowhere else, so it must be because you can't create good greens, even if you spent 1000 hours on every green. Felt like I had to become a total tryhard on this overly try hardy course. If you want to direct every shot into the rough, then just plant heavy rough everywhere. I hope to never run across any of your courses ever again, because I'm sure they all smell equally as bad. Blame Canada, and I blame you for my -7, -6 for -13 and any demo marks I accrue this week. I blame everything else, because I can never be in the wrong. I have spoken, now be ashamed and go cry to your mother you basement dweller. Oh, and if this has any copypasta energy to it, I have now acknowledged it and thus this can't be used against me. So ha. There, I think that covers it. Now where's my pay check? Cheers, and good luck. don't take this too seriously pls, I am to blame for everything

Bit of an ordinary -8 third round, about 4 or 5 burnt edges and a couple more short by bugger all, but I did finally defeat the 18th. Tee shot found the fairway for once, pitch shot caught in branches fell just short of the green, chip in for birdie.
