In what has become an annual tradition for the week of the Northern Irish Open, we return to Lahinch (2019 Irish Open). An absolutely classic RCR by theclv24 with tournament settings in place that the designer created when the tour visited two weeks before the British Open in 2019. There is quirk. There is fun. It is a true links. Good luck! Going to see a lot of "throwbacks" come on the schedule in the next few weeks as we wait for the next design contest window to open up. Muir Woods, LIDO, 17 Mile, etc. and just because I am an absolute fanboy, if something doesn't knock my socks off between now and our three weeks of playoffs I am thinking of making the entire playoff run RJ Wils courses. Right now I have Avery Fields, Hoi An Beach and everyone's favorite Falling Water set up. But, subject to change. From the designer: The initial routing of the course is credited to Old Tom Morris in 1894, and in 1927, prior to his work at Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Royal Melbourne, Alister MacKenzie submitted a redesign. The club makes frequent use of a quote attributed to MacKenzie: “Lahinch will make the finest and most popular course that I, or I believe anyone else, has ever constructed.” Not a bad duo of designers! Prevailing Wind - I recommend West or Southwest, occasionally Northwest. For the best experience, I also recommend setting wind speeds to a minimum of High. Turning off Scout Cam also heightens the experience.

Well, this is where I say my farewells. Being on 4 Doyley kisses, I needed to have a good showing. Alas, I did not. After a dismal first round of -7, I was in damage control. Needed a solid effort to stay alive. But, with a -6, to be -13 at the cut, I surely will get another mark. Farewell to all, hope to see you again soon

Or a promo event!

After a T4 finish last week I completely bombed out this week, opened with a ridiculous -3, and only managed slightly better in the second round with a -7. I lost count of the number of putts that grazed the edge, what could have been had all or at least most of them actually dropped 🥴

I couldn't help myself with this awesome course and decided to jump into the fray this week again. Well. It looks like I'll be getting my final demo marks and moving down to Kinetic. Doesn't seem right. Surely I can appeal to Doyley to remove his devilish red marks and keep the scheduler on the same tour he schedules! Ugh.

Hanging on with 3 demo marks. Finished -17 thru 2. By the looks of it thatbwont get me another demo so Im still hanging on. It did seem like 80 percent of my putts this week were double breakers. Killed me.

After accruing my first demo last week, and being off a little in my game the last little bit... expectations were pretty low. If I make a cut, great! If I continue my inevitable slide down to Kinetic, that's fine. Little did I think that I'm having a lightning start to this week. -15 for 55 in round 1, back to back eagle surprise 12 and 13. Think that's my second ever double eagle, first in TGC Tours. Stunner of a round which came out of nowhere. Round 2 in my weakness of very high winds. -10 fight of a lifetime. -25 at the cut, tied for the lead as I type through 2, PC leader out of everyone that has played. First time I'm leading a tournament at any point, and this includes stints all over the place from top to bottom over the last year and a half or so. Just... what? I don't brag much, but this is just a beautiful sight to behold, especially when I was starting to question whether or not I have what it takes to be here. Won't last but I'm motivated to try my best and see where it gets me. Cheers and good luck!

Things you love to see! Congrats and keep it up.
I generally don't use very high winds on elite since I believe they are dumb and broken. But yeah, felt like this RCR needed it for a bit of protection.

Well, that was fun while it lasted! Sincerely slightly disappointing to finish just -5, -8 for what feels like an unlucky -13. I mean, scores were certainly even more down from first two rounds, I just had next to no luck like at the beginning. Funnily enough, my proximity might have been the most consistent it has ever been: between all 4 rounds, hovered both sides of 20 feet, with the difference between worst proximity to hole and best being maybe a foot and a half difference at most? Just zero putter luck at all when I could have had some, or sometimes could have holed out and fell just inches short. Might have been able to actually pull off the shocker and win had the inches gone my way, but it was nice to be able to dream about it for a few days. Needs everything to go right and for two rounds, that could happen to even me. Not 4 apparently, but it is what it is. It's a bummer now, but I'll be over it tomorrow and hopefully ready again for next week. Hoping -38 lands me a promo mark on top of the one I get from removal of a demo mark this week. Might end up close but if that's my reward for this week, then I will take it because... like seriously, this was not the week I was expecting it to happen. Tough course, but a fun one. Really enjoyed my experience and glad I got up here to get a competitive dose of it. Otherwise might have missed it. Let's try to shock the world again next week! Although, I'm likely to return back to my usual form of just hanging around the line, probably just under it. Cheers, and good luck.
