Welcome back! I've been absolutely swamped with work so Im back writing threads again this week. Strantz Golf Club this week is by digitalbunny , a man known for making unique, challenging, and absolutely fun golf courses. He isn't afraid to think outside the box and that can both lead to really cool concepts as well as some duds, but that's a risk he's willing to take. This is bunny's tribute to a real life course architect that also took big risks and presented very unique golf course concepts and ideas, Mike Strantz! Most famous for his course "Tobacco Road", Strantz was known to challenge conventions and create extremely bold, heroic golf, with "heaving" land movements, and at times, most likely overly penal golf. I think you'll find this design style suits plat quite well! Hope you folks enjoy yourselves out there, "american open qualifiers" are in full swing for the next 3 weeks as players attempt to join the next plat major, which I guarantee will be the most punishing contest of the year as per US Open standards lol. We'll be heading to a pretty easy-going template-style long island course next week and then a Canadian Matty special the week after!

last week i made my first platinum major cut, and as a result have moved to a career high WGR 140
unfortunately a -11 to start this week will make it difficult to keep the momentum going. despite tough R1 conditions (high wind VF VF VF if memory serves), the pins are positioned for the green to funnel the ball right at them, so i'll have to dig deep for a big R2 to make the cut this week. i had fun getting to know this course, especially on my practice rounds trying to bounce the ball off the road pictured in the write-up

Still here... As for this week: 35 holes of solid (close to Platinum level) play and one hole (7th in round 2: twice in the water with balls rolling back into it on approach shot) resulting in a triple bogey, which might cost me the cut -26 after two rounds (and should have been at least -30, given that the triple came on a par 5 )

Keep it up!

I know, nobody but Kevin and me left here… But, for the record, made the cut 🥳 and got it to -52 Nowhere near the top players but I’m still happy with that.

Aaaah I almost forgot to do a write-up!
So with round 1 -16 and a R2 back 9 of -8 you would think that I’d be enjoying two weekend rounds at -24 or better. Unfortunately, though, the front 9 of round 2 was +1. 🤪
Good luck all and see you next week!
