I mostly agree with that. The splash or a flop is definitely a lot easier than a partial pitch in this game. Chipping is just odd. I'll generally use a 50° wedge for my chips in real life and just adjust how hard I hit it for distance, slope etc. There are some instances where I'll use a 58°, sometimes with an open face. Not this cycling up through the clubs depending on the distance nonsense.
I do find partial pitch more difficult than real life in terms of distance control, usually between 30-55 metres. Above or below that range I can usually knock it pretty close. But while I don't always knock it to a foot or two in real life from that range, I'm not smashing one way over the green on one hole then coming up 20m short on the next. I have a fairly good idea how much of a swing I need for various distances. It's more difficult to judge it in the game than it should be, which is why everyone reverts to the splash or flop.
Like you said everyone resorts to splash but because it is so piss easy to get up and down from everywhere under 30 yards.
If it wasn't for the awful chipping in this game every shot under 58 yards would be a partial shot for me apart from sand, which is realistic as my full 60 degree LW pitch shot irl goes about 52 yards.
Yeah I don't think a whole lot of the short game is like reality in this game. I don't know what the loft on my lob wedge is in this game, I'll have to check it next time I load it, but it carries 94 metres for a full shot, 63 for a full pitch. My real one is 58° and a full swing with it usually goes about 75-80 metres, so I can sort of gauge how hard to swing it from closer in than that, but I don't have a "full pitch" irl. It's just a percentage of the full swing. Trying to do that in the game is more difficult than a partial pitch. But then, irl I play those 15-25 metre shots with all different types of shot depending on the situation which also differs from the game where it's usually one or two options. I'll play low running chips, or mini flops, or standard pitches, it just depends. I like experimenting with my wedges and trying different things, it's fun.
