Do you absolutely love playing on the True Sim Tour and the challenge it presents, but find yourself stuck below the cut line each week? Or, maybe you squeak past the cut, but still find yourself so far down the leaderboard it’s hard to keep the fire burning through the weekend? We’ve been lurking and listening and have some great news for everyone!
Although we are unable to directly implement flights on the TGCTours website, one of our very own, skoader , has developed an app that will make this a manageable task from the administrative side. HUGE applause to him! Our hope is that this will increase interest for everyone in TST and create a lot more buzz across the entire leaderboard.
Promotion and demotion marks will be applied as follows.
*A tournament withdrawal (starting but not completing an event) is -2 movement marks
ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be patient. While skoader’s app is impressive and much testing has gone into it, there’s likely to be some growing pains at times. We will be keeping an eye on the week-to-week outcomes and will adjust the flight implementation as needed. We are all volunteers here with real lives to live, so please keep your criticism constructive and contribute ideas and questions in as positive fashion as possible.
Starting next week, Season 8 Week 34, TST will have a new way to compete!
Introducing TST flights! ! !
TST Flight Implementation
There will be four TST flights. From top to bottom: Nicklaus Flight, Palmer Flight, Hogan Flight, Snead Flight
Players will be flighted based on tournament performance and then move up/down the flights in a similar way players move up and down tours on the Pro and Challenge Circuit Tours.
Promotions and Demotions
- +3 movement marks (green up arrow) will automatically promote you one flight
- -5 movement marks (red down arrow) will automatically demote you one flight
- Players in the highest flight (Nicklaus Flight) will not accrue positive movement marks
- Players in the lowest flight (Snead Flight) will not accrue negative movement marks
There will no longer be a website cut enforced because we need access to all four rounds' results for all players. However, the round deadlines will remain in place so the 2nd round must be completed prior to 4am UTC on Thursday of the tournament week. The website will still automatically withdraw players who do not complete R2 prior to the deadline and players who do not complete R4 by the finalize deadline (12am UTC on Sunday).
Processed First
- Finish in the top 50% of your flight = clear 1 demotion mark (if you have any)
- Finish in the bottom 50% of your flight = clear 1 promotion mark (if you have any)
Processed Second
- Above double promotion line = +2 movement marks (top 10% within the flight)
- Above single promotion line = +1 movement mark (top 20% within the flight)
- Below single demotion line = -1 movement mark (bottom 20% within the flight)
- Below double demotion line = -2 movement marks (bottom 10% within the flight)
New/incoming players to TST will qualify into a flight based on finishing position in the first two TST tournaments completed within a four-week period.
Players who remain inactive for eight consecutive weeks will be returned to the qualifying pool where they will be re-flighted after completing two TST tournaments within a four-week period.
Unlike the Pro and Challenge Circuit Tours, winning within your flight will not promote you to the next flight automatically. Although, you will earn +2 movement marks and be well on your way to moving up.
Flight membership will be shared within the forum and updated following each tournament in this thread.
Tournament standings for all four flights will be posted in a dedicated thread for each tournament. Periodic posts will be made showing in progress player standings as rounds are underway and then finalized 2nd round standings and final tournament standings will be posted after the respective deadlines. These posts will be made manually for the time being, so there will be a lag. E.g., standings after R2 may not get posted until later Thursday or even Friday. But, the flight results do not affect which in-game society you need to play, so just play away and be patient until the standings are published.
Post any questions about TST flight implementation in this thread and I'll make clarifications to this post, as needed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The current website leaderboard and method for calculating TST WGR and TST FedExCup Standings will remain unchanged.
