Peaked at round 1 and it was all downhill from there. Only a minor hill, surprisingly. Nothing went quite like I expected outside of the greens, and then I made it there and could barely get a putt to drop. Now yes, my average proximity for the whole thing was 31 feet and that might explain a lot, however... I did hit fairways pretty well? There's that?
Looking at a lineup of -5, -4, -3, -1 = -13.
Messy round 3 that had both all the action and no action at all. From the front nine that had all the stuff in it with an eagle and an exchange of birdies and bogeys, to the back nine where I only scored on par 3s and bogeyed a par 5, that's it. Something tells me that should probably not happen but I am no ordinary golfer.
I wanted to throw away the under par final round out the window in the final stretches of the weekend so much, but I turned an unlucky I think 57 footer on 16 into a par save from 29 and a half, and put another long putt in the hole for another par save on the last hole. I need a cold one after putting myself through a par saving clinic like that. EDIT: now that I remember, I think I should have figured out I was out for trouble for the round when trying to line up a shot on the 6th and the wind moves left and right without any stop... after like a minute of lining up back and forth, just said screw it and went for it at the tiniest stop.
Made it in, that was all that mattered to me this week.
Cheers, good luck!

Great gobs of goo, made the cut!?!?!? Finished strong....well I almost typed that with a straight face. WAS better on the weekend (-1, -3) with the best round being the last, but I slayed the demon down south (even if it was a distant cousin of the original masterpiece) and topped my nemesis (oops, wrong game) I mean rival in SkyBlueBen. Onward!

Did pretty fine overall - glad to be at a tournament with Tiger Woods. After a solid opening round of 68 and crummier 73, I got my first TGC hole-in-one on #12 it hopped in on the second bounce but I couldn't get much momentum and finally found water on 16 after forgetting to change the suggested CPU club choice and got a 70. Final round I was more aggressive on the greens and handled the wind better for another 68. -9 total.

This hybrid Augusta course is really awful(sorry designer, you either make an RCR or just a nice tribute course), this is neither, had enough in round 3. Decided to give TST a go this week, picked the wrong time to do it.. This amazing pin point accuracy driver that we have on Pro really does take the skill out of that part of the game for me. Been a long time since I tried Pro difficulty, maybe my tempo is quite good but it feels nothing like golf to me.

This hybrid Augusta course is really awful I disagree. Decided to give TST a go this week, picked the wrong time to do it.. Oops? maybe my tempo is quite good but... What did you shoot through your two completed rounds? I couldn't find you on the leaderboard. it feels nothing like golf to me. From memory, pro swing, aim marker, and splash shot are the difference between feeling like golf or not?

[timestamp="1649552212" author=" hammers1man" source="/post/716330/thread"]maybe my tempo is quite good but... What did you shoot through your two completed rounds? I couldn't find you on the leaderboard. 1)This hybrid course is awful especially when there are awesome RCR's of Augusta. Really you couldn't of played an RCR of the real course?. 2) Yes I picked a bad time when a fantasy course was chosen but I do feel TST should be about REAL courses. 3) I think I was actually about 5 under after 7 holes in round one including a pitch and chip in. 4) I say pro feels nothing like real golf because driving is laser straight and it just is hard to hit a poor shot. Come on how many here must feel it is more about set up than execution. There are plenty of great Xbox Sim players who score great on master so I disagree that pro makes it more even cross platform. The scores here are actually laughable when Matt's RGT started on TGC 1 we had top scores of -20 to -25.The scores of -50 to -60 is just not sim at all. I was part of Matt's RGT and TST and Tbh is this really his vision for a sim tour? To me it looks like another tour here with a couple of aids disabled, this was the worry for some admin when we joined TGCTours(I am sorry but RGT was way better than what TST is now if you love sim golf). Why copy the main tours when TST is an independent tour. A good chance of a real sim tour wasted. Lastly I don't play splash outside of bunkers because as a real golfer that shot in this game respresents arcade golf (no realism). Unfortunately so does short chips with wedges also but it's hard to actually give up that shot. Man I hope they improve the short game next time.

2) Fantasy course? well played...
3) Oh, I thought you stopped during R3 4) If you judge it by the best players it will always be too easy. The winner at Firethorn was -53 and the winner IRL at the course which shall not be named was -10. But, a score of +2 after the second round missed the cut at Firethorn here on TST and a score of +5 after the second round missed the cut at the course which shall not be named IRL. That's much closer. There just isn't a difficulty level that works perfectly for all people (whether a sim golf enthusiast, a pro gamer who can/will make it look like a videogame regardless of settings, or the casual gamer who wants to play enjoyable rounds periodically). But, in general it does seem the current settings are doing okay at keeping a good number of people engaged and having fun.

For the record: We could not use 'the' RCR this week. The course we used is not a 'fantasy' course though. The decision to go for pro this season was a unanimous decision by all admin involved and we will not change settings mid-season. We will reassess the situation before the start of the next season. If you feel this was the wrong decision, you are free to point that out. However, pointing that out over and over and over again doesn't really help anyone, does it?

Re regarding the course above interesting to me on the 1st day of the event some new lidar data of the area was released for some one like me who just loves investigating the plot just an amazing weekend looking at the grounds. Real shame what has happened to the event doesn't seem that long ago Greg Norman's son was playing the cyber version in tgc1 and nothing was said. Understandable through for TGC tours to keep in HB/2k good books if they want to keep the data.

Bit of a late reply but I do agree what you are saying and tbh if there was it wasn't for Frans and yourself there wouldn't be no TST. I do get frustrated with comments though that a good way to read greens on TST is using ghost balls (not turn based) to help with the green reads as you get to see balls play out of turn, where is the sim immersion of golf balls flying about your screen before you even hit a shot?. TST used to have a 1 ball rule now it's a free for all with that aid, it should be about sim before unrealistic aids . Watching TST players playing with 3 non turn based ghost balls killed my participation for the tour when before I played every week for quite a few years. My whole point with pro for my skill level is not about scoring, with master I just need to practice to hit it well. We play no splash outside of bunkers on USE as it brings feel into the short game. My first round on linksland this week I didn't play well but a good short game with many partial pitch shots helped me shoot par. Round 2 a blow up on 7 and 8 with awful putting (usually the strong part of my game) was followed by 5 birdies. I only play about 4 to 6 rounds a week with no practice rounds so I will never be great at this game. I am pretty good at partial pitch and it is a very rewarding scramble shot, it took about 2 hours of playing this game to see how overpowered the splash shot is , even watching the early videos before release I was worried how little skill was involve with that shot. I do know it can't be prohibited but this game really doesn't need it outside of sand, just a shame it is this game bane like previous game's flop shot. My 2 rounds of Linkskland this week on Ultra Sim if anyone is interested in watching, good golf and bad golf, scrambling and great putting and awful putting but it was fun and it felt like the whole course is in play as it is more difficult to hit well on Master difficulty.

Played that course 33 times looking at my Ghosts From Legend to Pro, To Me Still one of the best Open courses to play massive shame its off the Rota at the moment My Favourite course in the world and in game.
Just a Note it's why this Brand is so special play the courses you like and the way you like to play.no right or wrong what you say or enjoy but at times site's like these have to cater for all not just a few but changing to Pro for TST was really a massive error(should have gone legend and play easier courses (just my view maybe wrong), but like all things in life you don't really know what goes on behind the scenes.

My biggest problem yeltzman with legend is that swing plane is so punishing and that again brings in worn controllers v new controllers are basically different skill levels and this was the case with TGC2. Unfortunately with polling points etc different condition of controllers, Xbox seemingly a different difficulty all together we can throw cross platform TRUE competition out of the window even on pro difficulty it seems. TST has had just one winner this season that is not on the Playstation platform in a 29 tournaments, so this whole theory that going Pro makes it more competitive cross platforms is a myth to me.
