Hey guys and girls, I’m looking for some help, I have been trying to create a stream running through my course and have come to a little problem. When you lay the water table it gives you that rocky rough texture around the edge so I have created heavy rough to minimise the edge which looks great, the problem is there are parts that have more edge then others then immediately followed by parts that have heavy rough running right through the water table. I have tried messing with the depth of the stream but obviously I don’t want it to be too deep. My question is am I missing something where I can have a similar consistency of rocky rough texture through the whole of the stream?
Thanks

Try messing with the height of the shoreline. I’ve found when you lose the rough edge it’s because that particular area is too low

That hasn’t worked but then again I changed the water level from none to full and the water has stayed the same height so don’t know what’s happened there. Thanks though

I found a work around by placing trees under the ground.

Thanks though That setting will only affect untouched land. Once you've done sculpting, the effect of that slider is overidden by the sculpting that you've done.

What is the effect you're going for? Are you trying to have the rough continue into the water without any of the brown, rocky texture running along the banks of your stream?

No I want the rocky texture just at a minimum. I was trying to get rid of the rough going through the water as I had random patches all over. I’m working towards a gorge style course with a cave thyme system which I can feed water to and from so the rocky edges would fit in with the gorge cliffs.

i usually use a heavy rough brush and just widen it enough to cover the banks and the run along the stream

Some themes are receptive to when you plant enough trees the land/grass below the trees goes dead. It also works if you sink the trees below the surface out of sight the grass still deadens. I recall the delta theme being the most sensitive to this effect. The other thing is the severity of the slope tears the land/grass and you’re left with a rocky surface, so you may need to go deeper with the land below the surface of your water plane. Final thought there is a trick that allows you to have grass under the water plane by using a second water plane under your existing plane, for some odd reason you may have created two planes of water and that’s why the grass is below your water.
I think it just might be a depth of the land near the edge of where you want the grass and rock line to be, maybe it should go a little deeper and it should fix the look. Without seeing some photos hard to tell. I’ve only been using the design a short time but I’ve definitely tried breaking it from time to time just to see what it all does. Lol
