Decided to try something different to what I've done before. Sort of a faux-rcr The course layout is taken from a course in Norway called lofoten links. Which I found to be a bit beyond my capabilities to recreate as a straight up rcr and a bit short anyway for this game.

So I decided to take the routing, tweaked in places, and the layout, lengthen the holes where required and do a highlands theme which interwines with an old abandoned quarry. 

I've also been breaking up the building of the course by adding in the aesthetics as I go, which is why I already have a clubhouse and hotel complex in place even tho I've only done 7 holes so far.

You might want to take a peek at Vikingklubbens Grotte and Kyssesteiner which are both inspired by Lofoten.

Also ditch the parking lot objects and go with just the surface, perhaps with walls around it and save that meter for better things, as links courses are an absolute b%& to plant.

I've had to plant the bigger rocks individually. Which is a bit of a task but will hopefully be worth it in the end

Added a waterfall feature. Quite pleased with it. Needs a bit more work but it's getting there

I'd appreciate any feedback anyone has on it.

I'll eventually turn it into a 18 hole course but I need a little break. This is the longest I've ever spent on a course

5 weeks so far for 9 holes.

I need to tidy it up in places where the auto gen trees and grass have made unwanted appearances

Hey mate I just played your beta.

It looks really good so far. The rock work is really well done, lots of the sculpting and planting looks good. The holes are well thought out. Could end up a really nice course.

Some specific feedback:

The views from the tee on 1 and 2 are tremendous. Not sure about 3 though, I feel the rocks and shrub making the shot mostly blind could be dropped? The rest of the hole is nice.

And then on 4 could you drop some of that rock wall down so you can see the bunker?

Is there a plan to put a hole between the 4th green and the 5th tee? Looks like a really good spot for a par 3.

On the 5th drive - I think the fairway slopes too steeply down to that bunker on the right


On the 7th I don't love those fairway bunkers


8th - split fairway and double green eh? I'm not sure what the purpose of the split fairway is, I had the wind in my face so went short of the waterfalls and there's no real advantage or disadvantage to either side (apart from 10 or 12 feet elevation difference). And I'm not really sure of the purpose of the little sliver of fairway on the right after the waterfalls. For a double green yours looks decent. Waterfalls are good. Yeah they could use a little fine tuning but the general shape is nice and they're almost there.

Many of the greens are too severely sloped for me

Honestly on the 8th the extra bit of fairway was idea I had to have 2 routes into the hole depending on what side of the green was in play. It's also drivable but with huge risk 

I think the bunkers on the 7th fairway could be 2 pot type bunkers on reflection, I felt the hole was a bit easy at first and wanted to make the drive more difficult than just a 

The gap between the 4th and 5th will be for the 16th tee, the back nine will route counter clockwise around the outside of the course. With the 17th being a shortish par 3 to an elevated green sited alongside the 3rd green, the 18th a par 5 running alongside the 1st and 3rd.

The greens were done at 153 but I turned them up to max before publishing to see what happened. 

Overall excellent feedback to hear and the criticism was very constructive.

I published mine already as Northlake Village because I was getting a lot of plays on the Beta and I thought, "holy crap, everyone is going to play the beta and not play the real one lol"  

But you can play either one, I might even say Beta is a little harder lol

Course almost complete. I'm going to release a beta of the full 18 it will have 2 tees and just 1 pin. Feedback is welcome. I do take it on board from everyone.
