Welcome to The Bankins. A fictional holiday village where some people come to relax and some come to play golf which will either make or break their weekend. The course can be a nightmare in strong winds and will play to it's full 7678 yards. The greens are set to 172 and anything faster will push the course to it's limit. The front 9 has a generous three par 5s but they're long. The back 9 starts with four par 4s, one can be reached off the tee and the other 3 have nice calm greens which depending on your first 9 holes can help you kick on or make back any shots you've lost. Then things get interesting with a big up hill par 3 followed by two tricky par 4s before the par 3 17th... The course closes with the only par 5 on the back and you can use the land to score well here or make double bogey. You will do well do find a flat landing spot from any tee shot and with constant elevation changes you will need to have your brain switched on all round. There's also a not so subtle easter egg which is a nod to a well known course reviewer. Hole 1, par 4 Hole 2, par 5 Hole 3, par 4 Hole 5, par 3 Hole 7, par 3 Hole 8, par 5 Hole 12, drivable par 4 Hole 13, par 4 Hole 14, par 3 view from behind the green Hole 17, par 3 Hole 18, par 5 with reminder of where you've just spent you're last few hours.

Hey Frank, Just shot a 70 (-2) and thoroughly enjoyed my round at 'The Bankins'. Really a nice golf course! Loved the planting - exactly what I would picture lush English countryside to look like. Some really good strategy built into the design of this course. On No 4 I couldn't decide which of my 3 options to take for my 2nd shot - finally played safe left then faded my 3rd off the green and into the pond and made 6 - good hole. The elevation changes, slopes and placement of hazards really made me think where I wanted to hit my tee shots. I liked how there were plenty of ground game opportunities and helping slopes, on and around the greens, engineered in to give the player options for thinking his/her way around the course. Framing and sight lines were well done also. Really a solid effort.
Good luck in the contest and look forward to more designs from you. Thanks, Bob

Very nice, minimalistic course with a lot of fairway off the tee and around the greens. Really liked the drivable Par 4 12th. It's funny cause it actually reminded me of the drivable Par 4 16th on my rookie entry haha. And that 17th sure is something with a fantastic view from the elevated tee box. Good luck to you in the contest!

Really cool course. The plot looks really nice amongst the trees i.imgur.com/aPPJU34.jpgThe logo is a nice touch i.imgur.com/yvsVFoo.jpg as well as the nod to WhatAboutAmeobi i.imgur.com/1rsjbpR.jpgReally nice clubhouse with ivy growing out of it i.imgur.com/UCOaM38.jpgI really like the houses along the lake i.imgur.com/wuntw5P.jpg very peaceful looking. In decent winds my round got off to a flyer with a chipin on 1. Some decent challenges with the cross winds to pick to fairway out as the ball came down. Then I got to the 8th hole and saw the short way home filled with risk/reward, of course challenge accepted. What a second... The 10th was a tight fairway that I missed by a lot and got a very kind bounce. The 12th would be drivable in the right wind, not today. Those partial pitch shots are unforgiving. A 48 yards pitch hit 90% goes 31 yards. A 17 yard hit 88% splash shot goes 16 yards. Some big elevation changes on the uphill, with the wind 13th made it interesting. That 15th fairway is nearly as wide as it is long. Messed up the 16th all the way along. Then the exact opposite to 13 on 17 with a big drop into the wind, leaving me a long tricky putt. I noticed the big bank on the right side of 18 and went driver/driver Bankin it into the green leaving another big sloping putt. Had a quick fly around to see the sights before knocking in a birdie putt. Really enjoyable course.

sandgroper thanks for giving it a go and well done on the 8th, golf is a lot easier when you can play shots like that!

This course has some good ideas in it. There's some things to learn about CLustering your planting and Doing it in a way it feels open space naturally as well as some scaling of fairways and green sizes. Good job!
PS: Next course I suggest a tighter routing. I believe it will help alot of the openness and scaling issues here

Nice track, planting looked nice, got the feeling of your usual local English club course.
Not a fan of the red and white flags for obvious personal reasons!!
Good job and good luck
