Kelpie Myst welcomes you to take a step back in time and experience a course inspired by nature. Kelpie Myst is a fictional highlands course set in the Perthshire region of Scotland.
* Perthshire straddles the Highlands and the Lowlands, offering a rich variety of scenery. Highland Perthshire is magnificently forested and the region has become branded as 'Big Tree Country'.
*Kelpie theme- A Kelpie is the most common water spirit in Scottish folklore and is said to haunt the deep pools in rivers and streams, usually in the form of a lost horse. In most cases, the kelpie appears as a beautiful horse standing near or in running water, and awaits weary travelers, hoping to entice them onto their saddles. Though this is where it becomes deadly, as it is said that once touched, magic causes the skin of the rider to adhere to the kelpie, thus making it easy for the kelpie to drown its victims. The course has 4 sets of tees and 4 pins and plays to 7449 yards from the Black Tees. It features a nice variety of holes in all directions of the compass, starting inland and finishing on the beautiful coast of a freshwater lake on the final 4 holes. *Reminder - remember to set Fairway Firmness to firm to override the glitch on Highlands courses. Note-there are several Easter eggs(and horses) to be found. also a maze in the back corner. Enough talk - let's play golf! Thank you for looking and playing. I sincerely hope you enjoy your round and would love to have any and all feedback.

A lovely Scottish course. I'm a big fan of the Kelpie, my first dog was a Kelpie/Lab cross and he was a very special dog. Fun fact, I'm allergic to dogs and cats and he cured me of my dog allergy, nobody was allergic to him. I had a scout around first looking at the Easter eggs and found the maze over the back i.imgur.com/bxlNza6.jpg with this guy protecting the entrance i.imgur.com/C4A1lSX.jpgNext to the maze is the logo with the squirrel i.imgur.com/t5mZenW.jpg and a tree house A nice lighthouse i.imgur.com/3cNotjF.jpg on the opening of the inlet. (I noticed the car inside the light). My favourite one, the squirrel playing putt putt in the log i.imgur.com/446h3hz.jpg on the 8th. The well endowed horse on the hill of 15 i.imgur.com/jo9Jjwz.jpgThe horse having a swim on 16 i.imgur.com/mPjYUID.jpgThe insignia in the rocky outcrop on 18 i.imgur.com/PKZ7pIA.jpgOut the front of the clubhouse there is a place to tie up your horse i.imgur.com/roeLJli.jpg (or moose). It's a pretty wild looking clubhouse i.imgur.com/7icRS5A.jpgThe clubhouse doorway was blocked by this guy i.imgur.com/9ghYgS3.jpgIt's a nice plot sitting next to a large inlet i.imgur.com/D6E00ur.jpgThe transition shot off the first is nice with the mist in the background i.imgur.com/lVtyKTX.jpg and then you spin around and see the mist sitting on the ground in the opening tee shot i.imgur.com/YuBP2rC.jpgThe greens had a very subtle movement to them, which always makes the lines difficult. The 6th green was interesting and I believe it was a ghost putt. I had a pill under my feet going slightly right to left and the rest not moving, so I gave it two taps to the right and then missed 2 cups right. I put on the overhead and still can't see the line... A shocking red slow caught me out on my approach on 7 and got wet. The approach on 9 is nice with the rustic clubhouse in the background showing off the moat. I knew the minute I hit my drive on 12 it was wet, they never stop rolling. Not sure why my missed putt on 16 a foot wide and 10 foot long made the highlight reel. Super eagle on 18 from off the back finished the round nicely. I liked the planting (although I prefer a first cut on the fairways) and enjoyed my round.

Sandgroper,
Huge thank-you for the play through and feedback. Love your humorous comments on your play by play of your rounds. Glad you found all the Easter eggs - you don't miss a thing!
Glad you enjoyed your round. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are one of the communities greatest assets with your many unselfish play throughs, videos, and feedback.
side note:
The squirrel in the log with his mini golf hole literally stole the show with Whataboutameobi and Gamer Ability's play throughs.

Hey Bob, I finally got around to playing your course after you suggested playing it after playing mine. I started playing on Pro, swing timing on and no putt previews on the first of this month. I've been playing with swing timings off for awhile before this month.I scored a + 1 on your course. I had 2 bogeys, a double bogey, a quad bogey (hole 7), 4 birdies and a albatross (hole 10). The only suggestion on improving your course would be to add some under growth under the trees along your holes. Burry trees or add grass. I think Wayne (whataboutameobi) played your course the other day. He's played two of my previous courses. I just sent him a request to play Rolling Hills Manor today. I'm trying to get a tour worthy course instead of approved. Plus I'm lost as to when and where to do fairway runoffs from greens. Anyways thanks again for playing my course

Played this earlier in the week and forgot to leave a comment. I didn't enjoy my golf but I did enjoy the course. There were lots to think about off the tee and I liked all the elevation changes. I could tell you put a lot of thought into the sight lines and I enjoyed the challenging greens. I think I played to level par but that was all on me and my red fasts.
Good luck in the competition, you've done a great job with this.

Hey Bob, just played this course and enjoyed it thoroughly. The misty environment is cool and most of the holes are a good challenge.
One critique is that whilst your environment is great and atmospheric, there are a few places where the views outside the course are a little underwhelming: for example there's a great par three on the front nine but the landscape over the back towards a river just looks like a big patch of vacant land that looks out of place to me.
But that's a minor thing, all in all it's a lovely track. Good job.

Enjoyed my round out here. Before bailing out of the contest I was planning to try a similar environment so you've given me some inspiration if I ever get into the designer again. Some nice Easter eggs and definitely some holes that made you think strategically for an overall great playing experience. One thing I'll point out was Hole 3 was a very long par 4 with a cut-off fairway before the green. Missing the fairway essentially forces a layup 50 yards short as you won't be able to hit the bailout area (at least playing from the back tees). Good luck in the contest and happy designing!
