Anybody else noticing distance control issues when putting from the fringe? I had a flat 5 ft putt that was just barely on the fringe last night. Put a normal stroke on the ball and it came flying off the putter face, slammed into the pin and sat 1 in. away. Is there something else I need to take into account that I'm missing?

If you're using the vibration on the controller for distance control this happens because the rumble is judged based on the speed of putting on fringe and not the actual greenspeed.

I am not a great putter but i find the ball does come out of the fringe faster than you expect..i always take a bit of pace off.

I'll putt off the FW through fringe at times and do remember it felt odd doing it at first. After several hundred now, it feels like I've got it down. If it's a steep uphill lie I will chip because the putt swing looks different and that's when the ball seems to rocket off the face.

Thank you.

Yea, it sets the pace based on the surface, so if you only have 1 foot of fairway and then 10 feet of green it will hit an 11 foot fairway putt. If the fairway speed is 119 and the green is 171 you have to do the math to reduce the length of swing. Don’t ask me how to calculate it though…

Take off 6% intent (LS down) when putting from the fringe.

I haven't putted from the fringe in forever, but someone on here put a formula out that I used to use. (length of putt/green speed) * fringe speed So a 20ft putt on 144 greens and 109 fringe gives you an effective putt length of 15.13ft, and then you do your adjusting for up or downhill putt off that.

Look at how far your putter goes in the upper right corner. Those are the numbers being referred to.

What's the reason they use how far the putter goes rather than the stimp readings they use in real life?

Exactly…

Interesting thing I've noted is the elevation to the hole goes missing from the HUD for fringe putts. However if you have the marker display on, it still shows there. Unfortunately the settings on CC are for the HUD which makes fringe putts very challenging for me.

No he means the distance the club carries i.e. where it would say for a driver the carry is 287 yards as an example, for a putter it shows the same e.g. 157, 165 etc. That tells you the distance (in feet I believe) a full putt should go on a dead flat surface of the surface you are currently on.
