Hey all,
Working on a course for the rookie contest and having some problems getting a water body to flow the right direction. I keep on trying to set it to north/east/whichever direction, but it always defaults back to south. When I zoom in to see the direction the cursor moves to something else. Pretty frustrating! Any tips to get the direction to stay a certain way?
Thank you!

Hey all, Working on a course for the rookie contest and having some problems getting a water body to flow the right direction. I keep on trying to set it to north/east/whichever direction, but it always defaults back to south. When I zoom in to see the direction the cursor moves to something else. Pretty frustrating! Any tips to get the direction to stay a certain way? Thank you! I know what you're talking about and I figured out how to do it! Highlight your water pane, turn flow rate up to max, zoom in really tight to it and alter the flow until it's in the right direction. Then you can alter flow rate. The last step is probably the one you're missing. After highlighting and changing EACH pane of water, you have to save. Once you save it remembers the water is flowing such and such direction and at such and such speed. Otherwise it defaults to south. Hope that helps, bud!

I kept the flow rate high, because the course I'm doing is on a river (plus waterfalls etc.) and you can't really see flow on the lower settings. But now that I did that whole operation (it's painstaking as f*ck), the water flows the right direction the whole course through.
Also, quick side note, if you have planting along your creek edge, you might want to remove it before you do any of this, because it's really hard (nee impossible) to highlight the water pane with trees or shrubs there. It always wants to highlight the shrubs.
Cheers!

Followed your tip regarding setting the water flow direction by setting water speed to max, then set direction. I cannot see how you "save" the setting. I am using k/b & mouse controls. It always defaults back to South/slow speed.

I managed to solve the problem. I need to hit "enter" on K/b in order to save the setting.
