Made two versions of the same course... Leave your driver out of the bag on the Olde version. Enjoy... The course is based on Askernish, which was an old golf club in Scotland that was lost for years and then rebuilt. The Olde version has light rough for fairways to make it play like an late 1800's course and fairway for aprons around the greens. The New version has standard fairways and an added set of tee boxes. The Olde course is meant to be matchplay (so expect half par holes either way of the par on the card), and the club you get off the tee is suppose to be the maximum allowed to simulate the older hickory clubs, etc. The light rough fairways also add an extra element of challenge in distance, sticky sidehills and added roll on approaches. Playing the New course gives a different set of challenges based on added driver distance and roll. Default greens are between normal and fast, but can be set to fast for best play. The course is out and back with a slight S shaped coast, so set the wind any direction... but turn it up.

Played both last night and what fun rounds. TOok me awhile to realize on the old version you had light rough as fairways and it's an interesting way to make a slower overgrown course. It was fun to see how the more mowed fairway and added distance effects the play. The Beach and surrounding town was done well and really made this enviornment though subtle effectively immersive. Awesome track(s)!

What a wonderful playing experience! I just finished a round on Olde Kildonan and walked away very impressed. It was great fun to play with no driver, and the green slopes promoted strategic golf. Excellent stuff. I look forward to playing the new course soon.
I particularly enjoyed the choice to use light rough for tee boxes and fairways and to save the fairway texture for green surrounds. How were you able to set up the waypoints so that the game suggested 3 woods? When I've played around with light rough tee boxes / fairways in the past, I can't get the game to suggest anything longer than 3 iron.

The use of the light rough as fairway certainly is a different technique. As is the extended plot trick which is a wonderful way to utilise a links course along the coast. Fortunately there was no driver free day but I will play it again to different pins to see how I go. Really lovely ruggedness to the course and all the little villages along the way are really well done. The plot being bookended by the docks at one end i.imgur.com/zVcnY9m.jpg and the village at the other i.imgur.com/a10E0Uo.jpgI made my way out to the lighthouse island looking for Easter eggs and all I found was a trashcan i.imgur.com/MgZn4RN.jpgThe farmland in the distance ties the whole environment together and it's very authentic.

Fell in love with the creativity very early here. It is not easy to pull off simplicity so well and you did that brilliantly. The light rough was so much fun and I also admired how the greens played more like putting surfaces where the shape was irrelevant and it became just about the contours. Super designing.

Skinnie has left the building. Here's a couple of extra shots I have, just to give it a bump.

Love me a skinnie publish. Still waiting on that more info from the OP... OP updated Hope some people were shocked on first play, haha... Thanks to everyone who has posted so far. Extra thanks to karma4u and his great pics, with draw distance that makes me jealous... b101 for his great review, which explains how I made the waypoints work with light rough... sandgroper for playing every course in the game including this one, ha

Skinnie has left the building. Here's a couple of extra shots I have, just to give it a bump. Love that in every picture, you notice something else Skinnie has done - in this case, the overlap/underlap fences. Extra time taken, looks so good.

I played the New earlier in preparation for the Olde and had a blast. Loved all the ways you could use the ground to approach pins, hitting an 8 iron on the 200 yard 2nd was fun haha. Great work Skinnie!

I didn't get it at first, but once I did - what a creative, unique idea!
