Is it possible to edit a course that has already been published and then republish the new edited version under the same name?

you can go back and edit a course that's already been published, but if you republish it under the same name, there will be 2 different versions. It won't overwrite the original one. So you can rename it something close (XYZ Golf Club vs XYZ GC, for example), leave the original one and dont bother, or republish it with the same name.

It would be great for designers to replace existing published courses especially if there are problems found after publishing.
Stick it on the "wishlist" for PGA2K22!

It would be great for designers to replace existing published courses especially if there are problems found after publishing. Stick it on the "wishlist" for PGA2K22! HB has addressed this in the past, and updating a published course would have lots of ripple effects and could cause some unscrupulous hijinks. Imagine if a designer "updated" his own course in a society event to make it an automatic hole-in-one on every hole, and then re-updated the course once he was done playing. Just one problem scenario the developers didn't want to have to handle.

That’s a lot of effort to win fake money. Do you think a designer with TW course would do that? Can’t imagine many people would stay in the society and the designer would be outed. I understand that they “could” do it, so there is a concern.

I understand that they “could” do it, so there is a concern. I wouldn't be concerned with TGCTours members specifically. But there are lots of societies, and imagine from, HBs perspective, how damaging something like that could be if it became rampant. They have numerous other scenarios where updating an existing course is problematic, and instead of investing resources into preventing things like that from happening, they just don't allow publishes to be edited. It's a much easier fix for them.
