Silent Dunes is my entry for the blue team in the 2021 Dream Team Competition. Inspiration for this course didn’t come from any other course in the game or IRL, but rather I took inspiration from a river I spend some of my summer days on and thought it’d be cool to recreate the tight weaving of the river with a golf course taking up the bordering lands. Tees are as follows: Blue - 7122 White - 6924 Green - 6570 The special red tees which are to be used by the red team only. - 5236 The courses plays well with all winds and pins, but my favorite combo is high East or West winds and pin 1. As always, feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated. Just because I heard the red team loves poetry, I left them a special surprise on the outside of my plot, don’t worry, it’s hard to miss. Just want to say thanks to everyone involved in the contest and for letting me be apart of such an awesome contest. This is my first TGC contest and just want to say it’s unbelievable how much you learn by taking part of these and would recommend any newer designers to get involved! Cool vibes coming from this course even though it killed me. The clubhouse looks really nice i.imgur.com/7ixWkat.jpgPlayed the front nine OK with a luck bounce out of the bushes on 2. Went driver/driver on 5 and nearly eagled from the heavy rough short left. Threw caution to the wind and drove 7 for a 3 putt par. 10 was a tricky driving hole with the wind from the left and hit a red slow but stayed dry. Found the centreline bunkers on 11 and smashed a 3H into no mans land. Tried to pitch out and hit what I think was a rock and went backwards. Delightful bogey. Missed the 12th high left and chipped to the other side and 3 putted for a double. Played a peach into 17. Get to 18 and hooked it into the river, back to the tee and three putted for a triple. My only concern was the darkness on the back 9 with all the shadowing from the trees.

This course is just class. The planting is immersive and the holes are thought provoking while youre on the tee. Just a great effort and would do well if you make it in the main field.
For the waterbase. I tried a couple options myself I think would be good for you to test out for future courses. Theres a pebble-y cart path that I used as the base of Columbia Wetlands with a double ater plane. This does make a solid line that needs to be hidden with planting and slopes but it seems to work pretty well. On my DL 2.5 I scribbled with the thinnest spline sand at the base of my water whcih seemed to work well and make the water have a subtle pop. Just a thought but the water plane question is mostly being nitpicky. Great job!

Really my first time messing with the dual water plane so definitely not the best I could’ve done. Next time I’ll definitely try some of your ideas!

Do agree that a couple holes on the back suffered from some darkness but it was tough to avoid with the lighting I chose early on, definitely taking those things into my future projects!

Wicked design here man. Absolutely loved following along as you pieced this together bit by bit. The hole designs were a tonne of fun. 7, 13 and 17 were my favourites. I bogeyed two of those. Ha. Thought you created an interesting environment too. Sweet planting. Way to bring it for Team Blue fella. 💪

Excellent planting - I know the time that takes. I like how there were some tricky holes too, had to really think about what I was doing more often than not!
