bino819 Undoubtedly too little too late but round three much better than round two, in spite of a dumb three-putt bogey. An eagle on #18 finished up a decent round with better (but not great) tempo for a -8. round four this afternoon or tomorrow.

R3: -8 R4: -12 (3 3 4 3 4 3 3 4 2 3 3 4 4 2 4 4 3 4)
This game continues to confound me. After a poor R1 and a second round that made me want to punch a kitten I guess I relaxed a bit going in to the last two rounds. I'd already missed the cut so I was solely playing for pathetic scraps of pride and whatever I could contribute to the team effort.
Round 3 was instantly much better than the two that came before it. My tempo was improved and I actually looked like someone who had played this game before. My scorecard was slightly soiled by a double on the 18th, thanks to my regularly incompetent caddie who had me play a pitch from 12 yards instead of the splash I thought I was playing. Grrrrr....I'd fire the bugger if I could.
Round 4 got off to a tasty start with a bird followed by a chip-in eagle on #2. This time I paid more attention to the clubs and shots the caddie (on probation) was giving me, and I managed to avoid anything egregiously daft. -12 in R4, which was 33% better than my first two rounds combined. I'm getting a big bald patch from all the head-scratching I do while playing, but I guess it would be boring if I ever got it all figured out.

Sometimes I just don't understand why they give what shot/club selection they give. Pitch shot from splash range? Well, yes. I suppose hitting it 70 yards is better than hitting it 25 yards, ignoring that 70 yards would put me beyond the next hole's tee box. Another one that I get a lot is when my distance is a little below or above 100 yards. Some of my distances are paired, like my full LW and my pitched PW have the same carry. I'm not certain, but I may have the same situation with my SW/9I. I'll just look and see the number, assume that I got the right club and then be like "wait, what?" when my swing timing is completely off and/or I'm not playing it up into all that wind that I lined up for.

Rd 3 -6 Been chipping in to help partner a bit but not this comp, and not helping team as -9 to aim for was too much. Eagle and 5 birds but usual bogey flung into the mix. Pity I've got to squeeze round in tomorrow as this "nut sack" of a course is doing my head in :-) bino819

bino819 -6 for the 3rd round Is there such a thing as a level fairway anymore? 😎 Useless info …I still play this golf game on the PS 4 despite having a PS 5 because I don’t like the controller 🤓 Useless info #2.. chips, it appears, are easy to do IF you practice them. (Note to self, practice them) Good luck to all with holes to play.

This game LOVES giving you a pitch shot. 117 yards from the center of the fairway and your regular full SW goes 118? Nah, let's do a pitch with a 9 iron. I've learned to pay close attention to default club selection on shots inside 120 yards.

Three straight posts in the thread...woops, guess I could have waited and said that all at once.
Anyways, rounds 3 and 4 are done. Pretty tough course but I enjoyed it. The only annoying thing was the soft conditions. They annoy me and I don't like it when my drives hit the fairway and don't run like they stole something. The second and third hole par 5s ate my lunch all week and that was the reason for my not quite up to snuff scores in the first two rounds. Bounced back nicely in round 4 with my best of the week and got the match play W.
R3: -8 R4: -11
We have 12 confirmed for the Ryder Cup event, so that could be a perfect number. For next season, we're at 14 right now. Two more would be great (and we'll be back to four teams, with hopefully no dropouts)
Totally forgot to count myself so we're at 13 for Ryder Cup and 15 for next season.

Yeah, I was on the fence about Ryder Cup or just taking a week off, but I feel like since midweek I've kind of recharged my batteries after really dragging the past 4-5 weeks. I'll play.
