Dear TST enthusiasts,
This week we play the Arabian Dreams Challenge at The Emirates Golf Club. An RCR based on the Majlis Course in Dubai - the first grass course in the Middle East. Conditions are obviously dry and this firms up the course and greens, which - combined with some naughty pin positions - should present a very different challenge to last week - make sure your putting is solid (and maybe slightly conservative). Also make sure to use the Caddie Book to identify your best line off the tee.
Best of luck and have fun,
Frans

So I played on Sunday because being a holiday weekend I anticipate being pressed for time towards the end.
But it's Sunday Art, didn't you always so do not play on Sunday due to tempo randomness? I rationalized this with three stone cold facts (all validated by the lovely Mrs. V):
1: I am an idiot. 2: I do as I want, not as I say. 3: Even if I did as I say, I do not follow instruction well.
So off to the first round I go, employing what is known as "The Vandelay Way". This is my strategy of hit first, think second. Before you think of using this method, please refer to stone cold fact #1.
I got both lucky (challenged the trees on the short 5th, was headed towards the water when I hit the retaining wall and came BACK to the rough) and what I deserve (did it again on 9, nothing to keep me from a dip).
+2 out, -3 and clean back in.
Great course.
Onward!

Round 2 and " The Vandelay Way" strikes back! Clean -8 leaves me at -9 at the cut, doubt it will make it but I will probably return for the last two rounds. This is such a good selection, that's two in a row Frans fransslabak! Onward!

Not playing this game much at the moment and found this a real struggle to score. No blow up holes being the difference between now and the start of the season. Lovely course to play though which makes it a worthwhile struggle. Suffice to say I won't need to be checking the cut line this week!!
Round 1 +2
Round 2 +2

-32 for me this week (9,8,8,7)
So hard to know how that will stack up. The course was fairly gettable tee-to-green although tricky with the wind and firmness. But lots of slopes around the hole made putting the real challenge I thought. I missed two four-footers in the final round, and grazed edge after edge on putts that I'll be thinking about all week lol Definitely happy though despite feeling like I left a few out there (as we all do every week!)
Frans, you're killing it with the courses lately.
Good luck all!

Pardon my French but F*ARK!!!
After a double bogey on no.2 because I didn't check my yardage book properly and ended in the water off the tee, I played as well as I have to date.
-3, -6 = -9 on Thurs/Fri.
Missed about a half dozen putts inside 3m which either lipped out or shaved the hole and another couple of bogeys on the card could have had me playing this weekend.
Like others above enjoyed the course.
Good luck to all the TSTers in the desert this weekend. I'll be watching from the stands!
Kind regards
EDIT: Still having a bucket load of fun!

Thanks blueblood1995 same to you, I don't remember you playing TST until recently and you're putting up some great scores. Fingers crossed... I think your -9 might have a chance for the cut. Those greens were no walk in the park and I think it might show in the scoring.

Loving TST and the challenge it presents. I feel I compete in my own way a little better in TST than the shootout that is the Challenge Tour. Cheers JAMES

Made really hard work of the first two rounds with some of the worst tempo and distance control ever witnessed on Pro swing… 😂
With that in mind, I’m pleased with the scores: Round 1: -8 Round 2: -9 Halfway: -17

I stank this week. Again couldn't putt worth a damn. -11 at the cut with no putts made longer than 9ft. Managed to get it to -26 overall, mostly off a good R3. Fun course despite my play leaving a lot to be desired.

Not posted for a couple of weeks (did you miss me ) as game has had me scratching my head, since the beginning of the Season, If I have made a cut here, I would miss the cut on Elite and Visa Versa, take last week, missed the cut here by 1 (3rd time ever, all this season) but I had my best finish in a very long time (T7) on Elite. Now I have been tinkering alot with bag setup and fingers crossed I have found 1 that works for me, still miss way to many putts here though, 7 in Rd1 all inside 10ft, 5 of which were back-back holes Anyway with all my fingers and toes crossed i may have broken my 1 cut a week hoodoo this week, -13 thru 36H's here and -27 thru 36H's on Elite, things are looking brighter Rd1:-11 Pars, 7 Birds, Bogey Free = 65 (-7) Rd2:-10 Pars, 6 Birds, 1 Eagle, 1 DOUBLE Bogey = 66 (-6) Rd3:-9 Pars, 8 Birds, 1 Eagle, Bogey Free = 62 (-10) Rd4:-10 Pars, 7 Birds, 1 Bogey = 66 (-6) Event:-40 Pars, 28 Birds, 2 Eagles, 1 Bogey, 1 DOUBLE = 259 (-29) Good luck all, Play Well

These sweet Arabian dreams were made of pure nightmares, a challenge is right. At least that was my experience this week. Bright spot is I think I've finally figured something out to bring my tempo to new levels that it has never been at before, although it's nowhere near perfect yet. Bad news is that it comes at a cost of putting, at least it does on here. With grids, I think it's still about the same as before, maybe even a bit better too. Let's see, highlights this week: anemic scoring in round 1, ending it by having one weakness of tempo on the 18th and finding water twice. Back to back quad putts for double and triple in round 2, one thanks to a hard slope which I can only thank myself for finding, the other was me sliding into insanity and feeling something die inside. My guess is the effort for the week. Again, only myself to thank for that. And once I no longer gave a damn, that's when I finally learned how to score. Funny how that works, not sure what that entails but I'll try to figure that out. Hard course for sure, that's no excuse for anything though. The courses have been great, my playing on them is currently not, and that is on me. I think I'll just grind TST settings out way more for next week and maybe do insane levels of scouting the upcoming course also, so that maybe my deadlock of putting finally breaks and I can learn to trust myself with it again, since I seem to have increasingly lower confidence with it. Putting is the thing killing me right now by being off just a bit, and I need to do something to fix it. Easier said than done, but no giving up! Cheers, good luck everybody! Sweet dreams, don't sleep on the course, and definitely don't let the, umm... bogeys bite?

Good news: made the cut.
Less than good news: did nothing on the weekend going +2 then -2.
Great course, crappy player.
Onward.
