gatorman I can empathize with how you are feeling. I am in CC-K and usually end up in the middle of the pack. Make the cut more often than not, but there are days/weeks when nothing seems to click. I guess this is not too much different from real world golf. If you look at the ranking of the top 200 players, the majority are guys you never (or rarely) hear of - they grind it out week to week, hope to make the cut, and maybe catch lightning in a bottle and get a top 10 once in a while.
I have certain skills that i am much better than most people, but I have come to realize that video golf is not one of them. LOL I still enjoy playing and have tempered my goals. Rather than shooting for top 10, maybe it is top 25, maybe top 50%, maybe even making the cut.
I do second the finding a community to participate in. Doing it for the first time this year, and it is a lot of fun. Brings another level to the game.
Unless you commit to charted all your clubs and developing a click system for loft and spins along with a click putt system you will never compete. Hard to believe but I was at one time a top 20 player before 2K then came the swing exploits and it ruined the game for me. All the hard work was pointless. Now I just aim but just to swing and see what happens. It completely pointless in even trying to get my game back to what it was. Half the competition I knew are gone now. The enjoyment is essentiallly gone. I’m not even sure why I keep it up, just hoping for the new game to bring me back. I’m sure others disagree and are having fun. So be it, but this game is a D rating to me. It’s so far gone from the great competition it once was.

I'm with you here also, I have bought each iteration of this game and have always enjoyed the game. After awhile though when you just can't advance at all it does get frustrating. I keep looking to see if I want to give it another stab, that's how I came upon this post, glad I'm not alone here.

Well this is just not true. I'm currently WGR11, have a Plat win and a couple runner-ups this season, and I don't have any "click system". I have my clubs charted, sure, because that's just common sense that you need to know what shaping does to your club. Was this not a thing in the past games? If you're not willing to put that amount of effort in, I don't see how you could ever expect to compete in any game.
Outside of the RF days, I'm not sure what you mean by swing "exploits". The move to pro made the game less enjoyable to me (even with my better results) because I don't find having to shoot -15 or better every round enjoyable. Aside from that, I think the game is more "competitive" than it ever was. I just think 2K21 has a lot more players than previous games and thus a lot more good players.

I just started doing this following your posting, so thanks for changing my mind! Was too lazy/stubborn all these years, but it looks like it could be paying off, especially in (very) high winds. I even made the cut this week at Barton hills!
No click system here either btw (neither shot shaping nor putting). Feel free to check my putting technique in my streams or VODs on twitch GW_Hope . I'm not WGR11, though, so that may have something to do with it.

I must be missing the boat because I don't even know what a click system is lol.
Charting the clubs is a must do if you want to step up a gear. You would need to play the game for a very long time in order to work it out via second nature.

They're talking about how some players assign a numerical value to each grid line and then "click" over that many times to line up the putt. I assume they mean the same for adding loft and spin by clicking up/down, but the range varies so much from club to club idk how you would even do that. The click thing was actually more early in the game cycle I think because I really don't see anyone doing it anymore.

Lol I played without charting for a long time indeed, having joined TGCTours back in August 2017.
I'm only two weeks in, but it seems to have a major impact on my game. I'm usually in the territory between cut and demo marks on Plat, with a few weeks spent in Elite every now and then. Now I'm comfortably making my second cut in a row.
However, I'm still torn and unsure if this is the route I want to pursue in the long run. I wrote about it in the current Plat tournament thread and I would be interested in hearing other opinions, so come join the discussion there!

ah yes, I've seen this on youtube. I guess some people want to make the game very mechanical and that's ok. I gave this a short try but got a bit bored with all the numbers and clicking. Putting's probably the worse part of my game, but I will just try and do a best guess for it.

YOur last sentence fits me to a T. I putt by feel, and while I have gotten a bit better, I also understand that I am probably destined to remain in the lower half of the Challenge Circuit. Like most activities, if you want to become really proficient, you have to put in the time and effort. Initial "talent" will only take you so far.
Anyone else experience this? Whether I play TGCTours, where I battle to make cuts. or Societies, where so many shoot unreal low scores. I can't find a balanced place to play where I can compete. I don't care about winning, but a place where you actually feel like you have a chance on your best day. I have played long enough to realize, I am not getting much better. I keep looking for societies where the competition is at my level of play. Occasionally I find a society, but most are soon overrun by players shooting very low scores. Competing against myself has become pretty boring.
Its probably the game not you. I was a master clubs player on 2019 but struggle on pro on 2k21 and sometimes pro am. I've no chance of master clubs at the moment. The swing system has steadily got worse over the past 6yrs. It may even just be a crappy server as since tgc2 its been pretty much when you play not how you play. Not expecting the new game to be much better.
