Anyone else experience this? Whether I play TGCTours, where I battle to make cuts. or Societies, where so many shoot unreal low scores. I can't find a balanced place to play where I can compete. I don't care about winning, but a place where you actually feel like you have a chance on your best day. I have played long enough to realize, I am not getting much better. I keep looking for societies where the competition is at my level of play. Occasionally I find a society, but most are soon overrun by players shooting very low scores. Competing against myself has become pretty boring.

The only real way is to look at the lower divisions and recruit the middle to lower ranked players and have it private.

gatorman , I know the feeling. I've tried different [xbox] societies - ranging from aids to no aids, Masters and Pro - ultimately realizing all I was doing was giving myself more mandatory rounds to play. So I've reduced my commitments and now play to get my golf fix and move on. I play 2-4 rounds of CC, 2 rounds of TST (rarely make cuts), a round or two of pro societies, and an occasional round or 2 in a sim society, if the entry fees are reasonable. That's it. Mission accomplished. I get my golf fix and move on. Might not be what your looking for, but it's an option in case you don't. Best of luck.

You might want to have a look at community run events like The Brew Crew as well. I always found that such events add a lot to the experience, especially when they are team based. Cheers!

I've absolutely experienced this. For me its about 3-4 years though. I played this game from the beginning and knew enough about the game to know where my niche was. And it aggravated me every time I mentioned it, and someone that I knew had only played about 6 months to a year would always tell me just hang in there, you'll get better.... no,, I'm thinking, I've played this game three times longer than you, I know what I'm dealing with... I know I'm where I am staying with my current playstyle and practice level. And with everyone else, at theirs, there is nowhere for me to compete.
Here is the thing- I had actually found a niche that I could compete in, and felt truly comfortable, and was having a great time. I like playing master level clubs, and with the changes to them, I was at the point where in the CC-I to K range, found I could compete! Basically the changes didn't affect me that much, but brought everyone else down to the level I was at. So for the first time, I felt that I was on a even keel with the people around me, and I finally could compete! I was loving it!!
But you know what happened? all the people started complaining because THEY couldn't hit the low scores they were accustomed too, those in charge changed things to match what those people wanted, and I was yet again left out. So I quit. No big deal, I have 200+ games on steam, and am having a great time with Forza, Back for blood, Magic, and other non golf games. The one society I'm enjoying right now is the NFL stableford one, because LEFTY79 has come up with a great handicap system to let all golfers feel like they can compete with each other no matter what their skillset is, and everyone seems pretty great about that.
I don't get why there with all these different societies, there still isn't one where people that want to simply play master level clubs, but with a fun, casual playstyle emphasized over course realism, but still with realistic type scores isn't offered.
oh and at this point, I'm not asking for any changes, I know thats not gonna happen. I've moved on, just thought you'd like to know I agree with you, and your thoughts and know where you are coming from gatorman.

Thanks. I will check out the NFL society. I just shot -5 for 1st round of CC-H. Wonder if that puts me in position to make the cut.

I’m not sure if you’re still playing, but I have a spot available in NFL Stableford currently. The next competition is a 3-person team format and is scheduled for June.
