Dear TST enthusiasts, This week, like the PGA Tour, we travel to Japan. We play Taiheiyo GC - Gotemba: a RCR of a beautiful Japanese course, with tight landing areas for your drives and some double greens (on par 3s), which is common for Japanese courses. Therefore, make sure to check the caddie book before hitting your drive or approach! Also, I would try to hit it close in round 3 because the greens are slightly slippery... I have instructed the greenskeeper to water the greens before the final day because I didn't want the greens to get out of control with the wind getting back up. I hope you'll enjoy it and good luck, Frans PS1 We have increased the cutline to 80 + ties to give more people a chance to compete for four rounds. Do keep in mind that if and when you make the cut, you do need to finish all four rounds, like explained in tgctours.proboards.com/thread/29352/tst-season-info-announcement-rules. PS2 As TST admins, we fully understand and appreciate that we cannot please everyone when it comes to the settings. If you want to continue discussing settings, no problem, but may we suggest to do so in the thread about that topic and use these weekly tournament threads to discuss those; the tournament of that week and your successes, failures, lucky bounces, disagreements with the golfing gods and more... PS3 For the record, we, TST admins, have no plans to change the settings for TST.

Best attempt so far. Used toddfather 's ghost in Round 1 and it definitely helped. My score wasn't great but it felt like progress. Round 2 I went round on my own (mistake, I need a ghost to slow my play down, I revert to my CC rushing around) and after a disastrous snowman (due to abysmal putting) early on I managed to drag things back a little. All in all it felt like progress, definitely getting more of the hang of reading the green but always reading it a few inches either side. Light years away from the cut but who knows what the future will bring. Round 1 +2 Round 2 +1 (inc. the putting disaster snowman!)

Rnd 1 = 72 Rnd 2 = 71 Did not enjoy this course as much as the previous 3. Although LiDAR I thought the green contours were a little unrealistic in parts. Will not be enough to make my first cut so we shall try again next week. Getting a very early flight to the Caribbean and will rest up on a secluded beach somewhere. Cheers

fransslabak Does the new cut of 80+ties go into effect this week? I think we (meaning Team Vandelay) might need that desperately. They don't call this the Yo Yo for nothing: round 1 was -3 through 7, finished +1. Poor decisions/execution, all me. Round 2 was a nice rebound of -7 but there was still some yo yo holes on my card. Waiting patiently for the cut. Onward!

fransslabak Does the new cut of 80+ties go into effect this week? That IS the plan … confirmation on whether we managed to get it incorporated will follow as soon as we know. EDIT: confirmed now - 80 + ties as of this week

Still struggling with finding the right balance between aggressive and overly aggressive, resulting in at least a bogey per round and having to make lots of birdies to compensate.
-10 & -8 for -18 halfway

YoYo Championship @ Taiheiyo GC -3 +2= -1 Meh. Hopefully that ensures a miss cut. Just not feeling this crappy game on xbox right now. edit: Definitely missed the cut. So this weeks TST portion of my weekly contribution to the greenskeeper fund is an anemic $1.73. note - my CC portion was $5.55, so I was able to reach the "minimum" amount to donate. Kind of like hoping you hit your tee shot past the women's tee. missed cut ($0.00) 0 Albatross 0 Ace 0 Eagles 8 Birdies (0.05) 24 Pars (0.02) 1 Bogey (0.10) 3 Doubles (0.25) 0 Worse

Still experimenting with the putting and just figured out the significance of the flagstick and how to use it to an advantage. I know it's been mentioned enough times but I'm thick and didn't quite get it!! Now I do. Roll on next week, I'm coming for you cut line!!

I THINK I know what you’re referring too but can you briefly explain the green reading with flag in cup technique? Is it like using the flag in the same manner as a putter and the plumb-bob method of reading the break… for what it’s worth because this is after all a video game.

The lining it up with the wind indicator. I can see the significance now. Not perfect but will get rid of a few of my misjudgements where I lose it nearer the cup. Enough have mentioned it but it's only now I'm starting to see it. Joking about the cut line, I'm not going to improve my scores much with it but I did lose a lot today at the cup by small amounts so it may well help. Ruined my Round 3 messing about so it's a good job I won't make the cut this week!

I too am clearly a little thick to understand this method. EDIT: Sorry fellow TST enthusiasts for hijacking the tourney thread.

Simply seeing how the flag is leaning by using the wind meter as a focus point gives you a clue what's happening nearer the cup. That's if I'm getting it right of course! That's if I'm getting it right of course! Our fellow enthusiasts let their golf do the talking while us newbies scramble for hope! I posted this in Discord earlier but posting again here with an image from a Google search to help explain and a few more words. Flagstick angle: with the flagstick in, you can see it’s lean direction and magnitude by comparing the top of the flagstick to the hole marker or whatever it's called in this game (the white rectangle with arrow on bottom). That’ll give you an indication of the slope at the hole. The wind meter can be similarly used, but the hole marker has a convenient point on the bottom of it to make it a bit more precise. Putter head/feet angle: get a feel for what your putter head and feet look like on flat ground (maybe with green grids on). Use that as a baseline to know what the slope is at the ball. With that knowledge of break at the hole and at the ball, you can use the approach and putting cam to look at the rest of the putt and may be able to pick up subtle changes throughout the putt. In this image, you can see the flagstick is leaning right and there is a gap between the top of the flagstick and the hole marker. More gap means more slope at the hole.
