Do you have to make a cut to gain a first WGR? You do I believe. I’m not on there, despite playing a few, and at present rate of progress I never will be 🤣

Do you have to make a cut to gain a first WGR? Hey James. Short answer is yes you have to make the cut to get WGR points. However, making the cut doesn't guarantee gaining WGR points either. I attempt to keep the TST WGR using the same rules and formulas as the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). Notice I say that I "attemp" to keep it the same. The high dollar software written and maintained by the TST admin staff (Microsoft Excel) hasn't been verified or validated by a third party. (I did send an email to the OWGR folks once.... they didn't respond.) TSTWGR has only one deviation from OWGR that I'm aware of, and it is done intentionally (point decrementing schedule). OWGR: The OWGR maintains full points earned (100%) for 13 calendar weeks and then reduces points over the next 91 calendar weeks in equal decrements (104 calendar weeks, a full 2 years, until points reduce to zero). TSTWGR: The TSTWGR maintains full points earned (100%) for 13 tournament weeks and then reduces points over the next 52 tournament weeks in equal decrements (65 tournament weeks until points reduce to zero). Result: Both systems place emphasis on recent performance (full points for 13 weeks) but TSTWGR puts even more emphasis on recent performance because of the faster reduction to zero. Because of the nature of TGC/PGA2K21 video game golf, holding points for a full two years is just a bit much. It's better for people who haven't played in a while to drop down and off to allow active players the ability to more quickly rise. At this very moment (10/14/2021) there are 330 players who have TSTWGR points. Of those 330, 205 did not play in week 1 or week 2 of Season 8. Of those 205 that haven't played yet in Season 8, 23 didn't play in Season 7 at all. The TSTWGR currently decrements to zero in Week 41 of Season 6. On the flipside of that discussion, looking at players with zero TSTWGR points. There are currently 68 players with zero TSTWGR points who have played in week 1 and/or week 2 of Season 8. Of those 68 players, there are currently 32 players with zero TSTWGR points who also played at least one tournament in Season 7. You can check here: OWGR, to find more info about the OWGR. (and to check on your favorite golfers!) Here's a bit more detail (in a nutshell) about the points methods (common between OWGR and TSTWGR). Strength of Field (SoF) is calculated for every tournament using World Rating and Home Tour Rating. The World Rating for the tournament is based on a value allocated to the top 200 World Ranked players competing in the event. The points allocated to the top 200 players decreases on a schedule published by OWGR. (e.g., if the top player is competing, he contributes more to the World Rating) The Home Tour Rating is based on the number of Top-30 Ranked players within the tour that the tournament is being played who are entered into the tournament. The points allocated to those players also decreases on a schedule published by OWGR. (e.g., if the top player from that tour's previous season is competing, he contributes more to the Home Tour Rating). So for us during Season 8, the Home Tour Rating is based on TST Season 7 finishing position. That SoF then determines the Points Breakdown to be earned for all finishing positions in the tournament. The lowest finishing position that can earn points depends on the the Points Breakdown table and is a function of the SoF. For example, if the strength of field were really low, it's possible for as few as 26 positions and ties to receive points. For us (TST), since we are the only tour and the top players tend to play every week we typically have a very high SoF and typically see points allocated to everyone who made the cut (not always, but typically). Clear as mud?

Can I have a point for being completely bamboozled with that just to get me on the board? MachOne117

I wanted to give another quick explanation of the ranking calculation for everyone.
From the OWGR website, "There is a minimum divisor of 40 tournaments over the two year ranking period and a maximum divisor of a player’s last 52 tournaments."
So, you see that in the spreadsheet column that's labeled "Events Played (Divisor)". All divisors will be something from 40-52. I'm going to try to get the actual tournaments played (in the most recent 65 tournament weeks) calculated also, but it'll take some tinkering to keep it automated.

I had only made a handful of cuts last season - and have not made one yet this season - would that be reason to not be on the list as of yet?

TST World Golf Rankings through Week 7 are posted. Standings after week 6 are also in the spreadsheet.
Finally got around to adding the actual number of events played within the last 65 events. It's the rightmost column titled "Events Played (Actual)".

It's the rightmost column titled "Events Played (Actual)". I've made a couple of cuts now but don't see my name on the WGR (unless I've missed it!). Don't pretend to understand how it works, what will earn me a place on that list? EDIT: I can only think there's not enough decimal places to get me on the list with the divisor. I need to keep plugging away!

I need to keep plugging away! Hey Ben, Here's how it's worked out for you. I see you made the cut in Week 6 (finished T76) and Week 7 (finished T66). Week 6
Total Strength of Field: 647 Points allocated for top 58 and ties (see link to OWGR points breakdown table below) In the tournament results there was a group of six players tied for 57th (@ -26) so there were actually 62 players who received points. Your finish @ T76 (tied with two others @ -16) left you out of the points by 10 strokes. Week 7
Total Strength of Field: 629 Points allocated for top 57 and ties (see link to OWGR points breakdown table below) In the tournament results there was a group of four players tied for 55th (@ -31) so there were actually 58 players who received points. Your finish @ T66 (tied with two others @ -27) left you out of the points by 4 strokes. Here's the link to the OWGR Points Breakdown Table. Find the column with the band of values that includes the Total SoF for the given tournament. With your improvements through the weeks you'll breakthrough soon. On another positive note: you're currently 125th and rising in the FedExCup points for Season 8! Top 125 go to the playoffs!
