xvshitanvx , any expert tips for reading the greens? When in doubt I do the full 360 deg view esp. to view behind the hole to confirm the read and esp. when I'm in doubt with a read. Any advice, no matter how small, would be appreciated! I can recall at least 5 or 6 putts from the 3m to 5m range which missed by a couple of ball widths and some which just rolled in the opposite direction. TPC Summerlin really had some interesting contours on the greens. Not many straightaway putts. Leaving yourself in the correct position directly under the hole certainly would have helped but I simply don't have tome to play practice rounds and make notes like I'm sure some do. My main goal is to hit a perfect first and hope to get within a 5m radius. Anyway loving the challenge! I'm happy to also receive tips. The putting has me absolutely baffled. Anything over about 8 foot for me is a guaranteed miss almost. I've watched all the video's, looked at all the angles and still just don't see it. Almost hit and hope every putt. I'm enjoying being involved in TST but it is turning into a controller chucker! (Not giving up though, I'm happy to hack through all season as I am if the worst comes to the worst)

Try knocking the ball past the hole and watching how it breaks. Also, if I’m not sure I pop the flag in and use the putting view ti see how much it leans.

-6 rd1 and could have easily been -9 if I had taken advantage of the par 5s, I just couldn’t get close to the flag. A good score nonetheless for me as I usually play like crap on the tgc official courses. Hoping to keep it under par in rd2 and make a cut. Keepem dry boys and gl out there….

I tried that Mark and the flag looks dead straight to me every time I have an issue with my eyesight and it may well be something that I can never come to terms with. But hey, as I say, just happy to be involved.

(Not giving up though, I'm happy to hack through all season as I am if the worst comes to the worst) The best indication of the hole slope is from behind the cup, I don't need to put the pin in as it is quite obvious to me. Also look at your putter head is it angled up or down as this gives an indication of the slope near the ball. I read my greens from straight on and behind the hole, I don't really look at the side view anymore. Raising and lowering the camera can help. Also practice round can help with slopes around the pin of you have time. Also the speed of the green and up down slopes are crucial to how much you allow for break.

Knocked in a -12 in Rd3 incl a water ball on the approach to 16. Was fighting for the PC lead with rob4590 and had to birdie 18 to tie...... The 7ft downhiller went in for a -10 Rd4 and -40 total. Left too many mid range curlers in Rd4 so lots of cursing as putts shaved the hole. Anyway, keeping up with the upper echelon so perhaps another top 10 coming up. Cheers

Sitting at -13 after two rounds. Didn't play great, didn't play terrible. I had to finish all four rounds on Sunday because I won't be able to play the rest of the week.
R3 was going okay and then... the par 5 16th. Going for it in two... hit short of the green and bounced back into water. Drop three. Fourth shot pitch... 10 feet short of land and into the water (look at controller and think, hmmm?). Drop five. Sixth shot pitch... hit short of the green and bounced back into water. Drop seven. Eighth shot, thinking in my head "not gonna happen again", blasted to the back of the green. Two putt for a 10! There is more than one way to make the highlight real! That was a C'mon Man! moment. R3 finished Even.
R4 shot (-9) to finish (-22).

Tried to restore some dignity and confidence in the final round by staying focused for 18 holes: -12 Total for the week: -28 Should really try to have that focus for all four rounds next week...

-14 at the turn and I'll take it after a MC last week. Fun stuff but it's stressful having to go low again as well, lol.

I adjust the camera so it’s looking down low to the ground, and use the stick as a measure / ruler with the wind meter as the constant datum I'll have a go thanks Mark. It gives me an idea if I’m really unsure about what happens at the hole… over time, you do begin to just “see it”. I learn most from what the ball does past the hole on my approach - I try to at least get the ball pin high.

I notice the backstroke changes on a slope. Pay attention to everything and it just gets a bit easier to see the nuances. Just want to add, I think TST is going to be my main focus this season. I just love playing the game with these settings. If you get hot you have a chance to win. In the regular tours you have to be hot to make the cut.

To add to my comments further above re. reading the putting line... At times I struggle to simply read the line. TPC Summerlin provided more than the usual misreads but I think it may have been to do with the mow lines. What I struggle with mostly however is how much break to allow and certainly the multi-break long putts are a real challenge. I think this is where the grid lines obviously help, i.e. the amount of break in a putt. I played my CC-C round straight after my TST Rnd 2 and wow putting was a breeze! But like GW_Hope above "I just love playing the game with these settings."

Not much more I can add that hasn’t been said. I think it’s important to commit to your read and think about where’d you aim if you had a grid (eg you think there’s a 9’ right to left putt, where would you normally aim in that scenario with a grid?). Trust that and you’ll do ok once you can see the breaks.
