Who is Shirley and does she have a vote on the settings? I do believe this very very funny man is a good friend of Shirley... Don’t call me Surely…! Anywho, I’ll set up another thread for swing changes so people can talk about their tournament rounds here in peace.

With the new patch supposedly softening the swing tempo penalties, TST can move back to Masters, right?

Stunk it up R3 with the putter which will probably cost me the event by a few strokes. Had a 5-putt on 6!

The more things change, the more they stay the same, right? -6 and a missed cut. Oh well, at least it was more enjoyable.
Can someone tell me, do those rds count toward WGR, or do I have to play all 4 rds (regardless of making the cut or not), or since I didn't make the cut, none of the rds count?
Thx! Shawn

I also did putt great because of you again. Thanks for playing ealry, I crave ghosts in sunday morning sometimes! 😜 My ghost will always be available from roughly 9am onwards on a Sunday morning, as that is when Nath and I play our TST rds, have done so for a long time. Glad my ghost is of assistance I will 90% of the time show you where not to go or where not to putt With regards to putting, reading break direction is not an issue, I rarely miss read a putt (though I do sometimes) I either over or under borrow, from 5-6ft are my worst, just not clinical enough, like the Top Dogs, I do jokingly threaten that one week I will give them a scare

Back again for more this season. Last season was my first, so coming in to this one with some actual experience instead of being a total rookie feels a bit weird!
Right, first rambling report of my shenanigans for the new season! Honestly, wasn't expecting much this week. I knew I had scored some decent scores in preseason, indicating that I should be within a shout of making cuts. However, preseason is always just that. So even if I score well there, how well can I keep it up once it matters?
Round 1 of TST was my first competitive round this season. I think I started this season off with a gamebreaker of magnitudes that I have literally never seen before from myself on the TST scene: I somehow scored a bogey free 10 under for a 62. First time I went double digits under par. My personal best round score even in stroke count, previous best was 64. First time ever I went bogey free too. Crazy thing is, I could have realistically done one or two better too!
Round 2 was back to somewhat more normal, lower (or lesser?) scoring stuff with wonky tempo, but even a 5 under with another bogey free round is better than I was expecting. Especially proud of the putter, I wouldn't say I'm one of the greatest green readers on here but somehow seemed to be able to do well with those.
So yeah, I'm -15 after 2. Didn't think I'd get to utter this sentence right off the bat at week 1 (or any week to be fair): I'm comfortably through the cut! After last season's pain and misery I went through on an almost weekly basis, I wouldn't even care if the last 2 rounds would go terribly wrong since I've done way better than I have any right to. I would have never thought that I would currently be above some legit, way better players than me! I know that won't last so I'll just enjoy the moment for now!

-9 cut and still only 2 Xboxers making the cut currently. Admittedly there are only 18 Xboxers who have tee'd off. Haha.
Would be nice to get some more Xboxers playing but with 143 participants already, would there be a need for 2 divisions perhaps or would the cut line move to accommodate more than a normal event holds IRL I wonder?
Just cannot bring myself to play boring Pro. Master has to be the way for this. More skill in it which in turn adds more fun (IMO) and now with the update, less of a frustration for most.

What I'm doing these days is to stop relying on what my eyes are seeing. You need to go against your instinct. Here's a good example. It's obvious it's going left to right here. Where I will place my marker when I move it first time is where I would have hit it 3 weeks ago. But my brain knows that I miss these putts 95% of time because I don't give enough break. So I kept pushing on left more and more. But I don't care missing that putt. I gave enough break, that's all I care for now. It will eventually pay. 3 weeks ago, this putt end up 12 feets on the right of the cup and I might 3-putt the hole

Round 3: -2 … I need new clubs and a new scheduler! Round 4: -8 … I’m gonna tell the scheduler to only schedule high winds from now on
Total: -30

Well that was pretty easy huh boys?
First time posting but I have been following along/playing for a couple years now
Foremost I want to say I appreciate all the work that goes into to this by everyone involved. Without tgctours I highly doubt I would play this game as much as I do.
With that being said I find the pro settings to be very similar to a participation trophy. Instead of people putting their head down and practicing to get better we have caved to the complainers. I just wonder how many people will continue to play on pro settings once they realize there is not there golden ticket out there to move up the rankings. If I had to bet I imagine the people who played good on master will still continue to be at top on pro leaderboards. Idk especially for TST I don’t see a huge change but I think at this point we have to continue on pro for a few more weeks at least to see if this is backed up with stats.
I do see the benefit of having improved numbers of people playing but again I wonder for how long that will last/at what cost that will be.
Final point I will make is that I’m sure it is an psychological change that I will need to make. Before I was playing for par and anything better was a bonus. Very similar to how I play in real life. It feels like we have switched to more so of an arcade mode. Again I doubt I go anywhere but grinding out a par was always more rewarding to me than driving a par 4 and 2 putting for birdie. First two rounds in kinetic were both in the 50s (I know this is the TST board but the point is the same in my opinion) and I haven’t picked up the controller in 2 weeks. I did not shoot in the 50 all of last year in kinetic.
Just speaking my opinion on the matter. I’m sure there is much more that goes into the decisions than I am aware of but wanted to give my 2 cents at least.

Can someone tell me, do those rds count toward WGR, or do I have to play all 4 rds (regardless of making the cut or not), or since I didn't make the cut, none of the rds count? Thx! Shawn If you miss the cut you won't receive ranking points toward your WGR because you did not finish with a position in the tournament. WGR in a nutshell: Strength of field (SOF) is calculated for every tournament using World Rating and Home Tour Rating. The World Rating for the tournament is based on a value allocated to the top 200 World Ranked players competing in the event. The points allocated to the top 200 players decreases on a schedule. (e.g., if the top player is competing, he/she contributes more to the World Rating) The Home Tour Rating is based on the number of Top-30 Ranked players within the tour that the tournament is being played. The points allocated to those players decreases on a schedule. (e.g., if the top player from that tour's previous season is competing, he/she contributes more to the Home Tour Rating). So for us, the Home Tour Rating is based on TST Season 7 finishing position. That SOF then determines the Points Breakdown to be earned for all finishing positions in the tournament. The lowest finishing position that can earn points depends on the the Points Breakdown table and is a function of the SOF. For example, if the strength of field were really low, it's possible for as few as 26 positions and ties to receive points. For us (TST), since we are the only tour and the top players tend to play every week we typically have a very high SOF and typically see points allocated to everyone who made the cut (not always, but typically).
