Howdy All,
Did some scouting a couple clicks down the back of Valentine for a future course. I think I'd call it Valentine Meadows. Spent the better part of two days just walking the area with the occasional short stint on the horse. Managed some photos to share with with you all.
The site for the opening Par 4 at Valentine Meadows
Par 4 second hole could go here
A shortish uphill Par 3 goes here
A Par 5 would look pretty running along the top of this ridge
A spot for another Par 3
Ignoring the robbed stage coach, this would make for a nice Par 4
And now back to real life...
The photos for potential golf holes of Valentine Meadows are from a popular open world game with some of the best scenery ever. A beautiful demonstration of how landscape can be modeled with more texture and object resources available. Even more amazing is the level of realism of the weather systems and the abundance of people, animals, birds and fish moving all around the landscape realistically.
With some of the current developments in game engines, and maybe some competition and luck...maybe in a few years, 2K/HB will enable golf courses to be designed with even more realistic landscapes, alive with humans and animals that actually roam around realistically with the help of AI and algorithms, as well as moving vehicles on and off course - and of course other golfers on nearby visible holes.
Can you imagine being able to just walk around a 2K/HB course and watch kangaroos hop across the fairway, or deer wander on to the edge of the green from the scrub at the back, or some NPC golfer slice a shot into the lake? Lets not have dangerous animals and reptiles available for placement on a course then - yikes!
A Designers dream...or a Players distracting nightmare. However it turns out - game courses will continue to look and play better over time - because this game and its Designers are a WIP too!
Cheers

(BTW - I will be posting in near future about my real wip on "The Rock Pools")
