Updated the upcoming test events to the following: Platinum: Pro Swing/Distance control on Elite: Pro Swing/Distance control on/Trajectory aim only
I don't feel like Pro-Am is a level I want to go to here - so going to try and keep it at Pro and have it with Distance Control On and then we can see if the Trajectory is worth using or not.
I would say in terms of the Distance Control Meter, no point to restrict it to ON, but could leave it open for eventual league setup so then players in Beer League could use whatever they please: meter, putting only, or no meter. Because there are still Beer League players I'm sure that like it for its simplistic nature without the worry about promotions/demotions etc. on the main tours. So those could still use that mode and use no distance control meter if they so choose. This is assuming in the above you're talking about Distance Control Meter and not Distance Control Assist (these two confuse me...). The Assist option just limits your max backswing/power. So if you have a 100 yard club and set the aim marker to 75 yards - with the assist on it stops at a slight over swing, i believe, so say max 77 yards whereas with it off you can go right past where you set the aim marker and still hit a 100 yard shot.
I've been thinking about the choice of setting Distance Meter to open or locking it to on. I'm leaning towards locking it to on as I think it'll help prevent of the flipping back and forth from the main tours to beer league. There is not much distinction between the tours if people can choose to keep it off on the Beer League.

Initially people wanted 'realistic' scoring - which means a hard game to play. Enter Red Fast
People complain that RF was gaming the system and scores were too high Enter RF Nerf
Scores initially were actually (and still sort of are) more realistic - people complain it's no fun to play now because a bad shot is a bad shot and scores are lower
Participation drops off (especially from XB player, 'cuz we just get hosed no matter what)
Season ends
Enter talk of Pro Swing difficulty
Future: Enter non-realistic scores again.
Rinse / Repeat....
I, BTW, still prefer Master difficulty as I like when a birdie actually feels good and par is not the end of the world..

I think you need to decide what the Beer League is for. In the last couple of seasons, the Beer League or its equivalent has been the more casual / learner league. I don't think the proposal of Pro with some aids on is enough of a distinction from the updated main league. Based on how players have gone in my own XB1 society, I think there is a place for a Pro-Am entry level league. As we are all throwing opinions around, mine is:
TST - Unchanged - for those that want a greater challenge than the Main league
Main tour - Exactly as per last year but Pro instead of Masters
Beer League - Same as Beer League last year but Pro-Am instead of Pro plus DCM on or open

I think out of the gate we could manage w/o the WGR and $ list. It could act as an entry level society into TST and allow TST's main society to remain Masters. Just asking. Please and thank you. 🙂

That would really set the Beer League apart, and I thought there were a fair number of people who were exited about playing this game with tempo turned off. I myself have never tried no-tempo in this game, but that would at least be more interesting than having a pro-am level tour.

My thinking of Pro-Am with tempo on is that even on XB1 it is closer to having tempo off but it still plays a part for someone learning the game in preparation for joining the main tours. Plus putting, etc is also that bit easier. I know the PS4 players think Pro is too easy but it is still a hard challenge for newer players on XB1. I've run a Pro society throughout 2K21 and I still have players that are always well over par.

It's no longer a "recreational" league for basically anyone, but it's now a Minor League or Development League for anyone new to TGCT. If that's the direction set for Beer League, that's fine. But it is a fundamental change from what it was in the past - or at least a lot different than what I perceived it was.

I agree, to me when a par feels like a bogie and a birdie feels like a par it just doesn't feel like golf at all. I am hardly the best at this game but on PC pro difficulty feels like the ball just goes straight all the time which is a little bit boring if immersion is more importantent than low scoring.

Definitely NO Distance Control Assist. That's one of the most exploitable things in the game, making it easy to quite literally hit an exact distance/% every single shot. And I do mean every single shot.

Simple enough and along with this idea. Add a Legends Tour ABOVE Plat, Elite, and Kinetic as it was back in TGC2 when there was (ELITE, PGA, EUROPEAN, WEB) no lie grid, swing tempo ON for the Legends tour, could be Masters swing. Just a suggestion to keep the players that want a challenge satisfied.

And I do mean every single shot. I don't suppose that would matter in Beer League, would it... Dependent upon what Beer League ended up being though, I suppose.

Masters is almost unplayable for us older players on Xbox, yet in 2019 it was fine.
