Just wondering how much accuracy is required for a RCR to be approved? I have played the course about 50 times and have taken pictures in person. The course also has fly9vers for every hole and google street view on the course. Other than asking the firm for detailed green maps, I'm worried about being rejected if I I admit I didnt have plans to go off of?
I'm really proud of how my course looks but I'm worried about being rejected. I feel like I have the elevations nailed down though.
Anyone ever contact the architect for plans??

In general, RCRs must be quite accurate to be approved. But, to me, it sounds like you're doing a solid job of covering all your bases. According to the approval guidelines post: "If your course is a Real Course Recreation (RCR), it needs to be VERY accurate to qualify for approval." I was in contact with the architect for my RCR of the Charleston Muni Redesign, but I did not get any actual documentation or plans from him to go off of or anything like that. I, too, just used photos, Google Earth elevation info, etc. I was lucky to also have lots of videos to go off of, thanks to The Fried Egg.

A Lidar version of a RCR will be approved most of the time, provided the planting is good. If not using Lidar, you had better know the course backwards and forwards to the sculpting right. Better to design it for the pleasure of doing it and it approved, consider it a cherry on top.

Also the more famous and revered a course is, the more scrutiny it will get. I would put effort into things like the clubhouse and overall aesthetic in order to get approval rather than making sure the greens are accurate to the inch. For one done by hand as long as everything looks and plays like it does in real life, and putts break the direction they should, or your greens have a bump or ridge or knuckle where there's clearly one in real life, I don't know that you'll have a problem getting it approved. It sounds like you're doing everything right so far based on your initial post.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah it's not a well-known course nationally, only locally big. I think in real life matty has played it so might be able to reject it if he doesnt like it but I am reviewing every photo I have, course flyover, and google street view so I hope it's not declined. My last round there was basically just photography with the golf being secondary haha.
The course is Dakota Dunes here in Saskatchewan. I previously did it on TGC2019 late last year but am redoing ALOT of it.
I'm actually worried about doing the clubhouse well, but will be able to do the casino and hotel nearby fairly well.
Maybe I will talk to matty before submitting it when the time comes.

This one? Nah, that'd be easy. Send me the file when you're ready for it and I'll knock it out for you if you want me to.

I feel comfortable with course related work but still find myself looking at other courses with imaginative clubhouse creations for inspirations. I've tried fiddling around with various buildings and cant create something cool. The only thing I could do well was creating the walkout portion with proper land sculpting. I also has a casino and very new hotel along the 10th hole. I just stayed there this year and took many pics.
