A common issue I seem to encounter is sticky rough. By this I mean that you have a bunker that is meant to be penalizing. A drive misses the correct landing zone in the fairway by too much, or an approach shot is too wayward. The bunker is placed so that the run off of the shot should end up in the bunker, but that little, miniscule, tiny band of rough you have in between the fairway/green and bunker...yea, that guy swallows the ball hole and stops it from going into the bunker.
What are peoples common solutions to this?

I would assume adjusting the rough firmness and roll in course settings would help make the ball roll out longer and get into the sand.

Another solution that was actually mentioned in another thread was creating bunkers using splines. When doing so, it eliminates the band of rough around the bunker altogether. I personally don’t really like splines though and also think the band of rough doesn’t look too bad. I do agree that the rough holds up the ball too easily though. Two things to try other than using solines is only using light rough around the side of the bunker the ball would likely roll into. Or if it’s an internal bunker in the fairway, just surround it completely with light rough. I did this at Usonia to all internal bunkers. You have to play with the texture colors and make sure everything still looks cohesive and realistic though. Also, you could make the slope into the bunker slightly steeper so the ball will keep some momentum as it’s rolling down towards it. That’s my two cents on the topic, good luck.
