Hey there, I am playing with textures on a course I’m building and am looking for some guidance/opinions on rough around bunkers and in general. For this particular course I’m using the Steppe theme which does not place your Heavy Rough texture across all land areas like in other themes, so I’m trying to maintain a bit of the dirty rough look around my playing surfaces in general. To do so, I have chosen to use a Light Rough texture (#16) painted with a brush to create my second cut and to surround all bunkers. I then am using a Heavy Rough texture (#5) to add a 3rd cut to soften between the green surfaces and the red Steppe texture. I am liking this combo overall aesthetically, see this example: However, my question is around using Light Rough around bunkers. It seems to me that Heavy Rough is preferred around bunkers in general, but is Light Rough also acceptable? It provides a reduced penalty for missing fairway, but wandering what the thinking is on this. I personally like the look when up close of Heavy around the bunker, but I cannot get the look I’m going for with that approach as I wouldn’t be able to get a 3rd softening cut like above. See this example with only heavy rough, not quite what I’m looking for: Anyhow, any opinions or guidance on using ONLY Light Rough around bunkers appreciated. Thanks.

Totally fine.
As long as the bunker styling is consistently done.
