I'd love to be able to set the deep rough length, and possibly have multiple layers of deep rough at different lengths and textures. You would be able to do away with having to plant some grasses, but would, like you say in the main post, want to match it with setting the rough percentages, etc etc.

I just posted this in another thread before seeing this one. _________________________________________________________________
I think that at some point they need to completely overhaul/redesign the game engine. The way the terrain mesh works is feeling very outdated at this point and cause a lot of the problems we encounter. Like being able to make a vertical or overhanging slope that can have sharp transitions without weird ripples or stretched textures. I was playing planet coaster recently and you can easily dig tunnels and build archways that are impossible in our current editor. If they updated the game engine they would most likely lose the option of importing courses from previous games but at some point, that feature ends up just holding us back. If they didn't have to include importing courses they would also be free to remake all new assets from scratch. Lets face it, a lot of the older assets look really bad up close and could use a lot of improvement. Having more dynamic weather, lighting options and proper water physics would be a lot easier in an upgraded engine as well. I think if 2K/HB are smart enough they should make this transition sooner rather than later in case EA decides they want to take over the course editor market. It would be painful losing all of the imported courses, but really after a couple of months, we will have built up a strong enough user course library that it won't really matter.

I'd like to see an easier way to do Collabs, like with cross play.

I would love to be able to invite other users to play test a course without having to publish it first.
Would also be great to authorize multiple users to edit a course so I can work on a course collaboratively with a friend.
Being able to use more ground textures would be a big plus too, in addition to being able to choose which textures have visibility priority. I’m thinking about those ugly mud and stone textures that appear next to water. I want to be able to select the water body and choose what its border texture is like we can already do with a bunker.

DRAW AND SCULPT AN INDIVIUAL SPLINE I was thinking about this recently. It would be great if we could essential draw topo lines and then set the height for each one. Then, have an option for a smooth transition between them. That would be easy and allow for much greater accuracy and complexity.

I would like to see 'mow lines' run basically parallel to the center line in all fairways.
Not so much a designer thing, as a rendering 'fix'.

YES! Also AUTO SAVE, and maybe place a fence or wall by drawing a line.

Option for lateral hazards!!!!!!!!!!!
Also (related) ... drop zones.

I think dropping in general needs to be completely overhauled. Water hazard vs Lateral hazards vs drop zone. If the designer places yellow posts then the hazard is automatically between those posts (should be easy to program) and the hazard rule applies. Same if you put red posts then lateral hazard rule applies. The exception is you have the option to place a drop one for the hazard. Same with OB posts so you don’t have to “paint” OB.
Biggest problem is the lowest common denominator which is the platforms it has to run on. Processing power, memory, graphics capability, file size means that Old consoles will be out (ps4?) Stadia, switch… how many customers would they lose?

It would be nice to be able to grab an entire path of spline points and drag and or rotate them or say select some of them like you can trees and move them

Since I asked about this, I will throw it in here too ..
Ability to manipulate pars on holes so you can have different pars from different tees on the same hole.
