Welcome to the final stretch of the season! This week we're at another b101 course and, before you start having Black Salt flashbacks, I can safely say that this one is a lot more forgiving and friendly than the terror that was the US Open. Ouarzazate might be the hardest course name to pronounce all year! Based in Morocco, this Unesco World heritage site has suddenly found itself with quite an unusual course featuring elements and visuals of an arid wetland and Australian Sandbelt style bunkers that cut aggressively into the greens. Another course you may remember from earlier in the season with similar bunkers is South Yarra. Imagine this course as it's wetter, slightly kinder cousin. As with all b101 courses, I would recommended taking a little extra time over every shot, because there is usually a riskier angle to challenge or an inviting bailout that might appeal depending on how much you are trusting your tempo this week. This course is both exceedingly scorable but also incredible punishing if you get on its bad side!

Took advantage of the top guns being away last week, made a cut, and finished 23rd! I was thrilled. Rolled that positivity into this week and came out firing with -12 in R1 and -9 in R2. A lot of low scores out there, but I'm thinking -21 should be enough to make my first full event cut since The King Invitational in early March... what a stretch! R2 was highlighted by this holeout from 120ish yards: Ouarzazate R2 H8. Kept things going strong in R3 with -10 to get to -31, but fell apart in R4 in the very high winds with a -2. Could not find a perfect to save my life in that round, and was scrambling all over the place. Still will take a -33 for the event! Good luck to everybody else with rounds still to play.

Scored really well in practice. Really fun course and a nice break from the last few weeks of tough courses.

Still here… 😎😎😎
Was having fun in round 1 and was -14 after 14 holes but then a few pars and a double bogey on the last…. I’m an idiot! -11 in round 2 for -23 halfway
Look forward to rounds 3 and 4; lovely course.
Good luck all, Frans

What a difference a change of clubs make to my game especially on this tour where distance and aim are crucial to setting yourself up to score. Anyway, got off to a really strong start (-12) only played R1 so far. Could have easily been -14 but got nervous at the end and went into the bunker on 18 green. Took me 3 more clubs to get out and made bogey. Hopefully I can continue to score in R2.

Yes with more distance. Also added 4th wedge to help with the gaps.

And this is why I keep writing to HB/2k... on XB all of this beauty surrounding clubs and forgiveness vs. distance is lost. If you use anything other than the most forgiving irons/wedges, you no longer have any misses (ie, you're either perfect or you get rounded to a red fast or red slow miss). However, on the most forgiving wedges/irons, you're then able to squeeze out a grey fast miss (or a grey slow miss if you're calibrated to the left side of perfect). It's just such a damn shame! EDIT: And I don't mean for this to get into any XB debates here lol...

Definitely lots on the shorter clubs for sure. Plus the distances on these short clubs actually line up pretty well with my IRL distances so I got that going for me too hahaha

Second time in three weeks that I have made a triple trying to get out of a short sided bunker. Since that splash update, I cannot get out of a bunker when I have to carry it just a few (3-7) yards. Two options: 1) blast it to the other side of the green or 2) advance the ball a centimeter and try again. I'm gonna start putting them out - hope there is no rule against that. 4 shots in a bunker would make me walk off the course in real life, and I'm much better at this video game than I am in real life haha.
