Seems everyone is convinced when they have bad tempo it's down to HB servers. If the swing was so relient on server lag, ping etc, wouldn't the individual's internet connection also come into play? Just curious because the game doesn't seem different to me online or offline and I use a wi-fi connection to play the game. Also it is obvious that bad framerates effect this game, vsync, input lag etc does that not come into play for bad tempo? .I had a problem with the servers the other night did nothing to my tempo just kept getting booted.

I know this isn't really scientific or anything, but these are my feelings and observations when I play the game:
1) Tempo feels "off" to me from time to time, and it's even when playing the same course multiple times. I can play a round on the same settings at a course one day and hit consistent perfects, then play it again the next day and get odd slows, fasts, and everything in between. It never happens at the same time or on the same place on the course. It feels, for lack of a better word, random. Perhaps it's just how I'm playing at that time or whatever, but it seems off to the point that my playing of this game simply cannot be that inconsistent.
2) This game is server-dependent to a level that seems almost like overkill. Career mode, a single-player, offline mode, requires connection to the servers to play. So it would not shock me in the slightest if even things like the swing are tied to server performance.
3) Time of day seems to play a role. I can fire up a lunchtime round and breeze through it, no issues. At night, everything takes forever to load, and tempo doesn't seem to act correctly. Nighttime, likely being when the most folks are online and playing the game concurrently.
4) The swing changes that were recently implemented were done so via server-side update. Now, I don't know much about how server-side updates are released and implemented vs. actual title updates/patches, but the fact that they could easily change how swing mechanics work without you or I or anyone needing to download a patch seems to show that the swing can be impacted by server activities.
Again, this is all conjecture...I don't know how anyone would actually test this. And I know 100% that HB would never tell us. But I think, based on the quirks I've had with tempo, that the connection to the servers has some impact - either directly or indirectly - to how the game plays on-course.

My tempo was good for 2 and a half rounds, the remaining 1 and a half rounds my tempo went to rat sh%$ and graphics showed the occasional stutter on follow cam (which it hadn't before). I have a 70MB connection and am running an i7-9700F CPU, 16GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. That should be well good enough to run a golf game at high settings. So why am I getting screen juddering? I can only think that as both course and swing mechanics are stored server side this has some bearing (please understand I am not tech savvy, just using logic). For the sake of interest I was 14 under after 45 holes with good tempo and played the remaining 27 holes with bad tempo (red fasts) when I was seeing issues at 11 over!! To me something isn't right.

I don’t think this the case on PlayStation. 99% of the time if I miss tempo it’s my own fault. The only time the game affects tempo is when there is lag and this is normally due to planting on the course

And for me, it's not typically a lag issue.

On my original refurbished PS4 it doesn't make a difference if I'm playing offline, online, on the driving range, course designer, a course with max detail/objects, or at 6am or 6pm in the evening. I'm seeing no discernible difference at all.
Quite a few others seem to be experiencing something different though. We all know input has potential to act differently, even among the same platforms, so perhaps the same is true for particular set-ups when they interact with the servers.

Nothing else is going on, or at least whatever is going on is the product of gaming, servers, computers, internet connection, USB ports, controllers, printer drivers, video card RAM, or a combination of all these or none of these and is something else.
It's almost worthless to speculate, or make excuses. Play on, do what you can do, record your score, and go to the next course. Sure, one can speculate, and inspect, and think the problem is solved, until something else comes along and speculation begins anew.
The best thing, for me at least, is too take sole responsibility for bad play. That way, I can do something about it and try to improve. My last round (Master), I hit 6 of 18 greens. My own fault entirely. Nothing more. Shot an 80. Probably my worst round since playing Master, 700 hours ago.
Must move on, have some fun, and get better. It really is quite simple.

Still think tgc tours needs to create a division for each operating system. So if we have a tempo issue on the Xbox. Than all Xbox only players will need to fight thru it

Still think tgc tours needs to create a division for each operating system. So if we have a tempo issue on the Xbox. Than all Xbox only players will need to fight thru it I would agree. Whether huge or small, there's got to be some differences between platforms. TGC should recognize that difference. But then you could just create your own XBox society. I've never been that much interested in the TGC Tour. Too many players playing the game other than it was intended, creating gaping gaps. I don't trust people to play this game honestly, without some sort of gimmick. Gather up some friends you know who play the game as intended, and have your own tournaments. There's simply too much cheating going on, though not many would dare admit it. It's a game; it means nothing. Or, it means even more if someone, for whatever odd, personal reasons, has to exploit the game to score well. But they (not all, mind you, and just because you score well doesn't automatically mean that you cheat) will always have some sort of justification for doing what they do, which is quite pathetic and not worth my time thinking about.

I don't think this theory is even remotely plausible. It makes no sense from a software architecture perspective and honestly I think it's all in people's heads. Based on how the swing tempo thresholds are configured, it sounds like the game downloads settings from the HB servers on startup and uses that information locally during your gaming session. The reason I say this is that HB's instructions for taking the new settings is to restart the game. I've seen many other software applications work this way and it's a pretty common pattern. I've had my share of swing tempo issues lately, but this theory isn't plausible, and unless anyone has hard evidence to the contrary people should just give it a rest.

I am on PS5 and did the controller software update this morning. When I got off work I played a few rounds of Matchplay with materialization and my tempo was awful. Felt like the club head had a weight on it. Plugged up to USB and the issue went away like it wasn't even there. This is not a Wired vs Bluetooth issue as I've tested it before and saw little difference on PS5. Has anyone on PS5 experienced this after the controller update today?

What resolution are you playing, do you use vsync, what framerates are you getting? All of this can come into play, vsync can cause micro stutter and can lower your framerate when not hitting your monitor/TV refresh rate. I get zero stutter ever as I am using a variable refresh rate monitor which also reduces latency. This game is more gpu than cpu reliant, I have a 12 core Ryzen 3900X, GTX 1080 (similar performance to your 2060) and can't run the game above 60 fps on 3340 x 1440 resolution on all settings max, I drop sky and cloud settings from ultra to high which has very little difference in visual fidelity and hit 70 to 100 fps. It is a flawless experience on the higher frame rates and GSync, where before I did notice when the game hits the 40 fps range. I also have the game on PS4 pro, tried the 60hz vsync setting which is ok when hitting 60 fps by you really notice it when it isn't, obviously caused by heavy planting etc. The PS4 Pro is wired to a 100 mb connection but with the vsync on setting the game doesn't play great when the PS4 Pro drops below 60 fps.

I'm running 1920x1080 as I'm connected to a TV. I play racing games and MS Flight Sim flawlessly. I have only seen this screen juddering on a couple of occasions very recently, not suffered it before and I have 600+ hours in the game. I'm wondering when I see these issues I should just do a reboot and see if that sorts it.
