which one is this please and is it legal I got the Nancon Pro Compact and I'm just playing on the stock sensitivity. It's definitely legal as I didn't receive a fair play warning when I used it for my TGC Rounds this week, and in playing I could hit all points on the tempo spectrum. I've only received that warning once, and it's when I was experimenting with a low end knock-off PS4 controller in one of the qualifiers. It seems more sensitive than my old PDP controller as it's playing truer than I'm accustomed to. No more random red slows that actually felt fast. When I hit a fast or slow, I know it with this controller.

I think I'll have to try recalibrating every time I play too, yesterday I wound up with a 9 on the 2nd hole in platinum because I hit a grey fast off the tee that exacerbated the wind and put it in the water, after already being in the water the previous hole because of a random tempo issue. I just got frustrated and faffed around with the controller figuring I might as well just hit it randomly since that's all I'm getting. Put another two in the water as I'd lost all care about the score by this point.
After more problems on the next hole I decided to restart the game and calibrate the swing and as if by magic it suddenly behaved itself and I could hit proper shots and even make some birdies! I had to take a break with 5 or 6 holes left to go back to work, and when I came back later to finish it off, the same old random BS was back again.
I reckon instead of mucking around putting NBA gear in the clothing options and adding a stupid form of the game in the divot derby they should perhaps be working on sorting out whatever the reason is for all this random crap. It seems it's ruining a lot of people's experiences lately. I don't have an issue with the increased punishment for missing red but they didn't have to F up the whole swing mechanism to change that surely??

I've been vocal about my opposition to some of these changes, on the grounds that it was a poor product decision to mess so drastically with the swing mechanics of the setting that is in use on a vibrant, competitive online community. That aside, I do love the game and I've been trying to work through changes as I discover them. I'm a PC player, and recently I've experimented with different controllers to see how they affect gameplay. I had been playing on one of the cheaper wired XBox controllers from PDP, but I recently switched to the higher-end Nancon pro compact and I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. With the old controller if sometimes felt like there was some randomness in the result, but with the higher-end device it plays much truer. Before giving up on the game, I'd experiment with different input devices if you have the means to. Most 3rd party controller don’t pass API check. Basically if you are playing with anything but a licensed stock console controller, you have a high chance of the ban hammer

I feel you, I was having a good week for the first time since the changes. Of course I knock it in the water on hole 2 round 4, Took a bad drop and then managed to exceed the shot limit. Could not avoid red fast or red slow on that hole and it felt way too penalizing. It's alright though I'm trying to practice a lot more.

Well I took a few peoples advice on here. And decided to play solo non society rounds to enjoy this game again.I’ve removed swing tempo and sent the difficulty to pro-am(which on the Xbox is still difficult).Really enjoying the game again.Started to slowly break par again, and seems like all the 2k server lag is completely gone.Sadly I was a huge tgc player in the lower cch brackets. But I just can’t compete at that level of play anymore. It became more of a job than a relaxing game for me.Thanks for all the replies

I've tried four third-party controllers, two from PDP, the Nancon, and an Armor 3 PS4 controller, and the Armor 3 was the only one that failed. And it was pretty clear in my testing that the controller was nerfing the game. Tempo seemed reasonably true but it was almost impossible not to paint the swing plane line. The other three seem highly sensitive and on-par with a stock XBox controller.

This is from the fair play section: ”Also, please note we have yet to see a controller manufactured by Power A, Hori, or Logitech pass our Fair Play metrics. If your controller is manufactured by any of these manufacturers, it is highly unlikely that your scores will be accepted. These are not the only third-party controllers that do not pass, but are some of the more popular ones. If you're using another brand, it likely won't pass either.” So any controller NOT from Microsoft or Sony is at your own risk and likely to cause a problem at some point.

Could not avoid red fast or red slow on that hole and it felt way too penalizing. It's alright though I'm trying to practice a lot more. I think it's ridiculous. As I've said I have no problem with the more severe punishment for missing red, to me it feels more realistic than hitting 300 metre long duck hooks off the tee, but what I don't get is why the whole swing mechanic itself seemingly got ruined to the point of making it almost unplayable and certainly unenjoyable, just to reduce the distance on red swings. Maybe it's because I haven't the first idea about coding or whatever it is but it doesn't make much sense to me. Surely all they had to do was leave the mechanics alone and just adjust the distances 🤷 I'll be playing the final round today, I'm not actually in the platinum tour, I just play the cow hunt thing so I never expect to be up near the best but I also never expect to feel like I've never played the game before every time I fire it up. I'll recalibrate before I begin too and see if it helps.

Loved this game when I started it a few months ago before the nerfs...now, after not playing it for over 15 years, though I primarily played TW back then, went to Links Country Club and payed the modest money to dl Links 2003...been having a ball with it the last week.

For me it was PGA golf 1999+2000.Sadly the servers with all the user made courses went down a few years ago

I think I fiddled with that...was that the one where Jim Nantz was one of the commentators?...or am I thinking of the Jack Nicklaus game.

I bought an XB Series X controller. It feels better than the XB One controller I was previously using. Not cheap though. £55 in UK.

Ive read all these posts about the swing mechanic frustration and I do agree its frustrating. I started playing in Jan this year after a long break since the TW games years ago. Just been playing in societies to date. I will be starting my tour qualification in the next week or so. Anyhow what I wanted to say is that I took a look at the average winning score in Platinum tour between Oct - Jan compared to the last few tournaments after the update. Average winning scores were -47 pre-update and -49 post update. I know all courses are different, etc, some easier some harder, but I think it shows that the top players have adapted. It can be done !!
