Situated right next door to the Al Riffah race track and about 10 minutes north-north east of Bahrain International Racing circuit, the Al Riffah Golf Club is the latest course in the Bahrain golfing scene.
Bahrain has seen a sudden increase in golf courses from a modest 1 course previously to now boasting 3 courses with another in the works and nearing completion.
Al Riffah comprises 2 distinct loops of 9, a large lake repressing the Persian Gulf and and large island I. The middle representing the course.
No expense has been spared in creating this course and the greenery and amount of vegetation is uncharacteristic for this part of the country.
Sheikh Mohammed Al Mohammed put out a call for prospective designers and an up and coming designers from Australia was lucky enough to lead this project. The Sheikh welcomes one and all to this course that is open to the public every day of the year.
OOC: this was first course I ever started with no vegetation whatsoever and also the first custom clubhouse.

This was a fun round, and a really good representation of what I imagine I would find in this region. I really like the areas around the water. It really felt like the course thinned and dried the further away from the water you got, and that really helped with making it feel like the region. Overall, I really enjoyed your entry, and good luck in the contest!

Can’t wait to play this and also Pablo’s Bahrain entry but unfortunately the fourth Bahrain course has been delayed by course workers being away for school holidays… luckily the deadline for completion was pushed back!

You navigated the tough draw well here. Thios really fit the enviornment but wasn't too barren or boring. Nicely done!

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I just wish I was able to finish off the planting particularly away from the water.
Planting has never been my best thing and with desert theme and having to plant everything and on console was not fun.
I may one day update it all to how I want it but with limited time these days, I just wanted to out something out there.

WhatAboutAmeobi Just watched your playthrough of my course. If you search for Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club in Bahrain and see the big open area between there and the Zellaq Hwy, that is where this course if set. This is directly north of Sakhir Palace and about 3.5mi NE of Bahrain International Racing Circuit. I was going to put the racetrack on the far edge of the plot as you could see in distance the 4th and even more so behind the 13th but decided that was too difficult. I also added more undulations then is in the area because let's face it, with how rich the country is there is no problem with moving earth and sand around. The lake and island (1st and 9th holes) entirely man made. I also shied away from Skyscrapers as this part of the country there really isn't any and if you look at satellite imagery of the area there as not really any housing. As for planting, it is not my strong suit and I hate doing it. I could have worked more on it but was feeling very unmotivated which of course made the back 9 suffer a bit. The 9th certainly is the signature and the rocks only used up about 5-7% of the meter. I used more sinking trees to create a darker look especially on that hill between 5th and 8th and then also around 11th, 15th-18th. The 2nd hole was even more sever sloping front to back and I had to tone it down as even shots that landed at front of green with the firmness and roll kicked balls off the back. The building to the left of the 18th green is the members area while the main clubhouse building is so big because of all the corporate meeting and function rooms. As there is only 1 other REAL course in Bahrain and 3 courses that have packed sand for fairways, there was not much to go on in regards to research, but I did try to model some holes on what Colin Montgomery did when he designed the Royal Golf Club. It is the best course I have produced and I know a lot to work on but for you to say at the end that it was maybe Tour Worthy ( I know it is not your decision) was good to hear and once I get time to do a few touchups, I might see if it does get tour worthy. Not going to submit to database until fixed though. Thanks again for the play through. PS I was in the first design league contest but then had to make this course instead. Now to do my CC entry.

Thanks for the feedback, dude! Bahrain was a rough one to get in the draw, because like you said, there's not really much to go on there. One thing I find is that I appreciate courses more when I watch my play throughs back, and yours was no exception. When I'm playing them on stream, I get distracted by all of the other stuff going on, but I think there's value to streaming rather than recording for YouTube in my case, because there are great designers that hang out and give their feedback too. I hope you found all of what I said, and what chat said helpful!
Looking forward to your CC entry!
