With the wave of Kiawah content rolling in, I noticed the bronze statue of Pete Dye near the Ocean Course’s clubhouse. I did a little googling and discovered that a lot of Pete Dye courses feature bronze Pete Dye statues by the clubhouse (Crooked Stick, French Lick, Casa de Campo). Then I realized, “Golly gee, I’d really like a bronze statue of myself.” Any advice, tips or best practices for erecting such an edifice? Any good example courses in game with such works of art? (I assume these example courses would feature bronze statues of the designer who created the course, but if they instead have statues of me, that’s fine too.) I’d be willing to consider a brass or pewter statue, but would definitely prefer bronze. Thanks in advance for all your help!

I have to admit, I laughed pretty hard at the title of this thread!
Anyway, I have never created a statue at a course - aside from using a deer animal surrounded by a brick base to stand in for the deer statue at Brown Deer Park GC. If I had to guess, I might say to try to use rocks to get the color you're looking for - browns and such if you want bronze or pewter. Then just use various markers and other objects for the details?
I'm sure there are more creative folks out there who would be better suited for this kind of thing, but I couldn't help but open this up when I saw it! Good luck!

Thanks, sroel908! I’m glad to hear you got a kick out of it. I’ll admit this thread was largely and excuse to say, “Wow, there sure are a lot of bronze Pete Dye statues.” But now I think I’ll need to give statue making a shot.
