They changed full shots and short game shots so that when you make a bad swing, you get punished for it. The game should be hard - its the second highest difficulty. Partial pitch shots are now the way to go (instead of that unrealistic splash shot from the rough around the greens). Pulling off a partial pitch that one hops and stops near the hole is about as satisfying as it gets in this game. Not sure what tour you play on (I'm a lowly CC-C member), but all I can do is to suggest that you give it some practice with the pitch shots before giving up. Or don't. Just an idea. But saying they lost most of their customers is grossly overexaggerating it. I bet over half of the people that play this game didn't even notice the change because they either play on Pro/Pro-Am or they always play for perfects. I thought using the splash anywhere but the bunker was kind of cheesing the game before so I'm fully on board with the changes they've made recently. The only weird thing about it is the timing of it. If this had come 8 months ago it would have made more sense, but better late than never. I was really bad at this game at the start and it took a lot of practice to get the tempo down and to figure out the partial swings. If you're someone who played the red fast or didn't pay attention to the tempo on short game shots I can see how this is a jarring change but the game is by no means broken.

I like it. Bad swings are punished more like they would be in real golf.
I just hate it when I swing badly 😂

As someone who thought the splash shot was cheesy acarde rubbish before the tweak (especially from bad lies) I have always played partial pitch, even from 10 yards away.Second most rewarding shot after putting for me. As you said it's the second most difficult setting it should be hard, the scrambling game before was like it was set on Pro-Am settings for Master swing difficulty. Massive improvement from HB there. If people spent more time on the chipping green their short games would massively improve.

I like how they do all this in the name of realism but my splash out of the grass will still stop on a dime and backspin a foot

High level golf (Master/Legend) isn’t supposed to be easy, especially in a competitive league environment.
The sad part is that it took so long to fix it. For me, it’s like I got a new golf game for free that still has familiarity to it.

Step 1. Turn off tempo Step 2. Turn on overswing protection Step 3. Enjoy game until EA comes out I find this a bit disingenuous... Nothing against you admin running this site as it is far beyond your control... But telling people to turn tempo off and essentially play a game they've been playing for 8 months with training wheels to get any enjoyment now is a bit absurd. Not sure if OP is an XB guy but for all of us on XB, we bought a game assuming we could play it as the developer intended (hitting all of their labeled tempo windows) and we are physically unable to do that. So a studio selling an entire console base a game that isn't actually compatible with their console is absurd and borderline criminal. To be 100% clear: This has nothing to do with TGC Tours and everything to do with HB/2K. It is not TGC Tours responsibility to account for any differences between consoles. Telling people to turn tempo off if they want to enjoy the game? Harsh and unnecessary. Maybe a joke that I just took the wrong way but I didn't take you as a very comedic type.

Saying that no tempo is training wheels is a slight to those that enjoy the game that way. It's no more right or wrong than the settings we're using. If you are at the point of leaving the game due to tempo issues, turn it off. It's that simple. There is a way to set this game up to be as easy or as hard as you want. Nothing absurd about that to me.

Many Xbox guys I play with gave up the tours a long time ago. Mostly top tour guys who have seen their ability to hold on those rankings disappear over the last two game releases because the gaps between consoles keeps growing. Others jumped ship to play on the PS console because competing at the highest level seemed to be paramount. To each their own. I was never an elite player, never will be an elite player. Never had much care in the disparity of platforms. Had good rounds and bad rounds like most people I was primarily competing against myself for pride. The amount of discussion points that brought up in the past few weeks and then seeing video evidence of the gaping differences and loopholes was mind blowing to me to say the least. I am not a tech savvy person and do not know poling points from stripper poles but seeing how different these games actually are and what you can and cannot do depending on your platform is just absurd. I stopped playing tours basically because of some good XB societies offer a more level playing field and lack of time, not because of this current situation, although it doesn't help. Others may stop playing tours or this game altogether down the road and TGCT will continue to go on without me and anyone else who decides to stop playing. I do not blame TGCT one bit for this current farce between platforms or have an issue with what Doyley said. Being that most of the user base has all these advantages at their disposal, I do not expect settings or attitudes from people on competing platforms to change. We all would like a level playing field, without question. I just do not have much faith in the developers to provide it.

Maybe the game plays perfectly on XB and is, in fact, broken on the PS. Therefore, I must ask. Is playing the game on PS an exploit?
