Don't no if this idea was already brought up but what about set weather for individual rounds? I wasn't a wind waiter until recently after being destroyed by 20mph winds twice at Swindon downs and its a bit unrealistic when most people will wait while others get blown apart.
Just a thought .

How does the weather work at present? If people load a round and it's very windy, can they just leave the round and try again later and the winds may have died?

There's no rules against it.

I think the only reason there is no rule against it is because there isn't any way to actually police it.
I just play the course as it comes to be honest. If the winds are blowing a force 10 gale then that's what I play.

Yea xrey that's how it works, I would only play 1 rd a night through the week so I would hit wind regularly opposed to someone banging out there rds in 1 or even 2 sittings all in calm.

Yeah, that's what I normally do ... unless it's a calm round then I play as many rounds I can get finished. I used to just play one round per day. .. and never got near the top of the leader board. ... but, I still don't wait for low winds. .. if I start a round ... I finish it. .. or it finishes me. ..
I take advantage nowadays when and where I can. .. only chance you get. .. since mostly everyone is gaming the system. If you're going to want a chance, you need to forget about doing what's right. Until HB fixes wind and there is a way to stop the others. .. there will always be a gamer looking for an advantage.

You could dampen it a bit. 4 tee rounds can hold them.back as each round has different conditions! So just publish 4 versions of same course for those with 1 tee location? Can't wait till Thurs for wind to die down as then.may be faced with 20mph in 2nd round

This is a good solution. .. but, then may as well have 4 pin locations as well with various green speed and firmness

If the winds are blowing a force 10 gale then that's what I play. That's what I meant. TBH lately I seem to play better if there is a bit of a wind. Take this week, played my 2 rounds in winds of 9-15, scored -17. Next 2 were slightly lower at 6-12, scored -9. Only time I would wait is if the winds were 25, I'd just go in the bar instead.

I remember playing a Links course and the winds hit 30MPH... That round was fuuuuuuun.

Different people have different comfort levels. I find many courses actually play better with a bit of wind. For the most part I don't "wind wait" unless the wind is higher than 15+mph. For me that is my comfort level especially when par 4's turn into a hole that you can't reach in 2 because of the strong wind. Honestly if you understand and practice, wind shouldn't be an issue. Two of my four rounds in this weeks' tournament at Yeti I had 8-14mph and shot very well.
Bottom line is eventually HB will fix it where wind conditions for a tournament will be able to be set in a range where everyone will have to play within that range. When that day comes, the people that wind wait will have issues adjusting, so you may as well start practicing now.

If winds are very strong in a tournament, I tend to play 1 round and then come back another time to when they are calmer. I guess I can call myself a semi-wind waiter.
Anyway, I do hope HB fixes it because I think it would be so much more fair and would really show who the best golfer is.

I don't think wind waiting is prevalent as many think. They see some low scores and somehow automatically think they're waiting on the wind. As someone posted above I've had some of my best rounds with high winds. Just get used to it.

With wind between 6-8 mph that is where I normally play my best rounds.
