This course is meant to be a backyard style course based in the eastern part of USA. I've started with the countryside theme but not sure I'll stick with it as I would like to see how the native areas look once I start planting. I plan to have at least four sets of tees: two back competition tees that will play 5-15 yards different, and two front sets that will play more for beginners. Will be posting pics of my progress as I go. I flattened the plot first then used the random plot sculpting technique to add texture to the land. Will be scoping out holes and green sites from that, and don't plan to do much more sculpting other than micro-sculpting. Full Disclosure: I have completely fallen in love with the measuring tool. * Update: Going to stick with the countryside theme and utilize the worn patches as they naturally occur. They seem to be affected more by sculpting rather than burying trees like with the boreal/delta themes. I have also done a bunch of micro sculpting to the holes as I make them because I didn't seem to do enough of the random sculpting to begin with. I actually like micro sculpting so that's not too big of a deal. ** I plan to publish two versions of this course. One version (CC) at easier settings and another (Open) version with harder pins and faster/firmer speeds. Will also remove some of the aprons around the greens for the open version. Plot overview: 05/04/21 Shared fairway: holes 1 & 9 Hole 7 A partially blind tee shot to a driveable par 4 next to the pond.

05/04/21 Routing and hole design complete. On to micro sculpting, bunkers, and fine tuning fairway/green splines. Still haven't planted anything yet because I'm still trying to envision what plants/trees the course demands. Going to very minimal planting with small trees scattered throughout the course. A lot of the focus will be on sculpting and sightlines for now. 05/14/21 ...aaaand this is why I don't plant right away. Decided to tighten up the course and changed the routing for holes 4, 5, 11, and 12. 03/12/22 Re-routed holes 15 and 16 to save space. Also re-made hole 11 into a split fairway as it just didn't stand out enough to the other par 4's. Still lots of planting to do.

Micro sculpting is turning out nicely. Here are a couple of my favorite green sites so far.... Looking back from hole 1 Hole 10 (ignore the unsculpted fairway bunker). I love the collection areas to the left and right that should come into play when the wind is right because it's a short par 4 that's driveable from the front tees.

mattf27 - FYI Unfortunately I took a break from the game after the big nerf and have not found the motivation to finish this project. I've tried multiple times to get back into it but the burnout is very real. Even if I do find the motivation, there is no way I could get this planted and up to my standards by the contest deadline. I really like what I have, it's just too late to finish. I'm even considering passing this file off to a motivated individual who is willing to finish the plot, so if you know anyone please send me a message. Thanks for checking in and good luck to all of the designers in the CC contest!

Beta version of this course has been published for those that would like to give it a play and offer some feedback! HMbeta031522
**NOTE** In this beta, the back 9 still needs a bunch of planting and I have yet to do some off-course stuff. Course setup is 99% done.

Hey mate it's really good, so I'll do my best to find anything no matter how small. No idea if some of this is design choice or intentional, just a couple things that I noticed as I went around, some of these are very very small things:
Hole 1 - the bunker in the front of the green is a little jagged, all the other bonkers have beautiful clean lines bit this one is a little different.
Hole 5 - the bunker on the left at the corner about 100 yards short of the green - the way the rough / bunker / fairway surfaces interact at the far end of the bunker might be able to be tightened up a touch.
9 - this is heading back down the 1st fairway. I don't mind it and it plays well in-game, but it looks fairly hazardous if it were a real course. Not sure if that's going to put some people off?
10 - not sure if you're planning to put something in to the left of the tee shot?It looks a little bare there. Actually there looks to be significantly less planting on the back 9 in general, not sure if that's design choice or unfinished planting. Edit - just re-read your post above about the back nine being fairly unplanted. Ignore this point.
12 - I wonder if you could push the fairway out on the right just short of the bunkers 60 or 70 yards short of the green? I don't think it'll affect play because in the game you can bomb 300 yard drives, but I think on a real golf course you'd probably have more room out there for the shorter hitters to get to on their second, and it might add a little more realism to have that landing zone there. There looks to be a natural area for fairway there, where that big tree is.
18 - personally I'm not a fan of those fountains, they just look a little poxy to me when in a lake. I think they work better as a feature out the front of a clubhouse or something.
Otherwise it all looks good to my eye. Sculpting, bunkers, greens, hole design - all excellent. Look forward to the final version.
