So... I have a feeling I know the answer to this ("practice")... But... Here goes nothing. One of the things I struggle with is plot generation. I know the tips and tricks around random plot generation and Mayday's guidance there... But I'm more interested in when you have a vision for the plot... I can never seem to make the plot fit what I want in my head...
Is it only me? Does anyone who is really good at sculpting the plot into a sort of "preconceived" vision have any suggestions or tips/tricks on the subject?

I’ve only done plots I have a vision for and want to move to random plot generation soon. My technique I found on my later plots is: 1. Sharp square flatten who plot. Find main height you want plot and flatten again whole plot to that height. 2. Route and lay your hole surfaces down. I usually sketch this all before I ever jumped in the designer but while laying the holes try and vision any major land changes. 3. With Measure tool outline major land movements and use a sharp brush to move land major land movements how you wish. 4. Now do the mayday randomize (if you wish, unless you want to control ALL the land movement). 5. Make any major land features (water, burrancas, cliffs, etc.) Then go through hole by whole crafting the plot how you want and getting the surfaces and bunkers right.

I’ve always struggled to get realistic land movement in my plots. Did the usual of waaaay too over the top movement in the beginning to just too flat in later courses. Hope now I’m starting to aim somewhere in the middle This is why I’ve been playing with lidar to find interesting real plots of land that don’t have a golf course on them ....pretending the local farmer has just called me and said he wants to give up milking cows and would like us to build a golf course on his land! So far .... ahem, cough....it’s not been massively successful and Mr Farmer has not paid me a penny for my landscaping work. 😂 The slowness of editing lidar plots is a bit off putting. I do think it’s just practice and eye training when it comes to making realistic land movement from scratch in fantasy courses. Good luck and happy practicing. 👍
