Thanks for the directions ... turn left at the tips and tricks, straight over the completed courses and look for instant replays on the right. Then follow the spooky music and sounds of screaming .... there you will find lidar land....many enter .... none ever return!! 😂 👍

This is just from a personal view who designs them on my laptop to play them on the old xbox one.....It's the file size in the course folder which is the most important need them to be about 4000kb to 6-7000 kb for them to load and play really well.
Others might disagree with this but due to the low power of my laptop i won't work on a file now over 5000kb,If you have a more powerful PC that would help of course
just an example Prestwick GC (1851) lidar i finished yesterday was at 3,378kb where an file not worked on and just the plot of land is 8,601kb.

Thanks yeltzman. I’m trawling around the coasts of Scotland looking for just interesting plots of land that I can build a fictional course on. So far the plots I have pulled in are interesting, especially one in particular, but the .course file is 10mb before I do a single thing to it. My pc is reasonably high spec but it’s still taking 2 or 3 seconds for each spline move, landscape flatten, plant etc. I guess that is because the course file is 10mb I can only imagine this would get even slower as I start to populate the plot with holes and objects? Reading through some of the threads in the lidar section (which is where I should have posted in the first place ... DOH!...sorry folks) I see that the amount of elevation can affect the size of the file. The plot I like most is overall about 40 feet from one side to the other, dropping to the shoreline, so not a great amount of difference, or is it? The plot does have a hell of a lot of small undulations on it, which is why I chose it, perfect for a Scottish links course. Do these hundreds of small undulations have an effect on the file size too? Sorry for all the questions, lidar noob here 😊 Thank you

I think the amount of Terrain on the lidar really effects the file size also how well you mask your plot as well.It shouldn't take that long on a high spec PC to do anything my laptop is below recommended specs and its about the same to do anything depending on the size of the plot Interesting idea taking terrain and then building a course,i am not the best with it lidar but if you need any advice just send a message anytime.

Thanks yeltzman I wonder if that’s the problem in that I’m not masking anything, just taking a whole plot of land and turning in to a .course file. I’ll try masking off half the height map before turning it into a .course and see if things improve. Thanks for your help Cheers
