Never played a red fast but naturally went a little fast more often than slow. Now the update. Need to get further away from fast to avoid crappy shots. Yesterday, I change some clubs to more forgiving, and recalibrate, actually getting all 10 shots to the slow side of perfect, some in gray, some slower, but no huge slices. Play a couple rounds yesterday, around par, nothing special, it felt the change in clubs and recalibration actually had a consistent affect. Now I play today. I’m getting fast and very fast on many shots. I don’t sense that my thumb stroke has changed to such a significant degree. I must conclude I am spastic, because to think the game and my controller go out of whack like that seems too strange. Been on this game for around 2 years, and don’t think I have felt this lost trying to gain even the slightest bit of consistency. I noticed the player count in cc-I tourney this week look down 20 or more players. I wonder if similar frustration has reduced players? Getting worse results from practicing seems illogical, but for me practice doesn’t seem to produce consistent thumb movement.

Two of those days Saturday and Monday both early AM 4-6 EST the tempo was uncontrollable. I'm on xbox so it's usually tough. But there seems to be a few days where it's very very tough. Hopefully this doesn't happen often to you. When I played on Friday morning the game seemed to easy. Hitting around 75% perfects. That is truly rare for me.

I do not know whether it happens at any particular time or any particular day, but there do seem to be periods when I play (PC/M/K) where tempo is more variable than others. Since this is a server-side fix to the game perhaps it has something to do with server load, I don't know, but it certainly exists.

Tempo changing outside of your control is definitely a thing, as sandsaver said above I would assume it has to do with the server. There’s times when I have to swing really firm to get perfect, other times I’ll have to more baby it. There’s no way it’s me, this is a real thing. I’m starting to notice now that playing later in the evening or at night (EST) is when I have to swing firmer...which is what I’d consider my normal swing. Afternoon sucks.

I usually dial up the driving range for a few shots to get myself in tune with whatever timing I need before playing any rounds. Only a few shots if I come out on point. Maybe 5 minutes at most if I’m off.
To me it doesn’t feel like my thumb stroke changes from day to day but........ Jedi Mind Tricks.

I've often found that once I'm done at the range and have found my "groove" tempo often mysteriously changes once I head to the course. I'm not sure but this game tempo keeps me guessing!

The range is a bit forgiving. Not sure if you’ve noticed but the white and gray areas on the feedback circle are slightly larger than when you are in a round. Once I begin to hit the white a few times in a row I’m ready to go. I also take a practice swing or two at the first tee then it’s off we go.

Surprised to not find any perfect players in here telling you that you just need to practice, lol. No, the tempo is absolutely not consistent for some people. My daily routine for the game was start on the range and find the perfect tempo, then hit some red fasts to find that feel. Then I would head to the course for practice on the TGC conditions. I would mostly find the tempo to be the same as the range in those rounds with misses being close. But hit the actual TGC society and it's a crapshoot. I would almost never miss very fast in practice rounds, but always had 2-4 VF in my plat round, especially if it was a hole that had some lag. It's been like this since I started on TGC and it's why I moved to playing RF once I learned it was a thing. I played one round post update just resigning myself to the fact that I'd just have to spend a ton of time taking practice swings to get the tempo on that hole, but I could hardly duplicate a tempo two swings in a row. So random.

So random. It's impossible to hit perfects with my controller. I either get red fast or red slow. I take what feels like the same swing 10x and it's a random tempo generator. It's been this way since launch, but if I calibrated my controller to swing as slow as possible, then swung as fast as possible, I could get somewhat consistent hooks before. Now back to hitting the ball everywhere but straight. Just not fun

Even though I was a mediocre player, I usually felt I could still have a good round for me. For now, that feeling is not there, and I don't know if I want to keep getting frustrated trying to get from the poor player I am now to the mediocre player I was.

Yesterday, I change some clubs to more forgiving, and recalibrate, actually getting all 10 shots to the slow side of perfect, some in gray, some slower, but no huge slices. I combatted the "Red Fasts" by intentionally swinging with a faster than normal tempo in the swing calibration. I hit 10 shots that had a medium draw and saved it. I then played a few rounds using my normal tempo, and most of my shots were either just right of 12 o-clock in the Perfect zone, or "Gray Slows". I've now probably played 108 holes with that new "slow tempo" skewed calibration, and I've only hit two Red Fasts... both of them came when I was trying to reach a par 5 in two, once with a 3 wood and once with a driver. I'm hitting more fairways and more greens in regulation with this new "slow bias" swing calibration. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped my putting woes which are only going to be cured through practice and a conscious decision to try to leave downhill putts short!

I'll start off most of the time with just a takeway waggle or two on the first tee, and not even a full practice swing. The results aren't always stellar, but since I recalibrated my swing with a "slow" bias, I'm no longer red fasting anything off the first tee.
