Hey all, I've been playing on TGC Tours for a few years, always hovering in the mid CC leagues, and finally picked up 2k and I don't know if it's just me or what but this game is so frustratingly hard that I had to quit the qualifying tournament after I made the turn at +20. In TGC2019 I could constantly shoot between -10 and E which I was happy about. This game is just something else. I don't know what to even try to get better because my swing is all over the place even when I feel like my tempo is exactly the same. Unfortunately its no longer fun, and I'm bummed about that since I was looking forward to joining the tour again. Sorry if this isn't the best place to put this, but I wasn't sure if I was alone in my frustration or if others are seeing it as well.

Boy, did you join in at the right time...you jumped right in after they made a big change to the swing mechanic, so now you're starting at a time when others are getting used to a change in how the game plays. Anyway, I think many people felt this way when they first started with 2K21. Tempo and rhythm will come after more practice and playing. Spend time at the in-game range, use the swing calibration if you need to, and play local rounds just to get used to the mechanics. Perhaps you'll find that nothing changes after some practice and the game isn't for you. That's totally fine, but the swing is a big change from TGC 19, so you'll need to adjust a bit before completely writing it off.

I was the same when I first got the game, most of my rounds were over par, some worse than I do in real life. But over time I worked out a "swing" on the controller that enabled me to hit more consistent shots and now I'm regularly under par, usually between -5 and -10 but sometimes better than -10.
The change in the swing mechanic is basically just punishing red fast tempo more, but I aim for perfects almost every shot so it hasn't really affected me much.

Give yourself 3 weeks and check back in - I found that was the time it took to adjust. Also, we play on a difficult setting - ease off until you get used to the game - play on ProAm or Pro until you're comfortable and then try to bump up to Master.

I've been playing on ProAm in the career mode and seem to do ok. It's enjoyable to play at that level. Master is just impossible for me. I'll practice a bit more and try again in a few weeks. Thanks!

Not sure how much you play in a week. I am VERY casual compared to a lot here, I can only play about two rounds a night and thats it- many play far more rounds per day than that I think, and actually do repetitive practice sessions.
That said, I was in the same boat as you, with 2019 and going to 2K21. It took me about 50 hours play time to feel comfortable with 2K21. After that, at around 120 hours play time, I noticed another light bulb that turned on.
So however long it takes you to do 50 hours, and 100 hours, those were the two times for me that I felt that I finally "got it" and regained my 2019 feelings. hang in there and it will come!

The change in swing mechanic really took the legs out from under more casual players. You really have to concentrate on every shot, practice swings etc...birdies are now really earned.

Keep in mind that TGC also offers the beer league which uses the pro difficulty. Some guys opted to start there then tried qualifying once they got a handle on the game. You can’t play in both beer league and the master difficulty leagues but you do have an option within the community if you can’t get a handle on master difficulty

I shot +61 in my first Q-school round. Then +15 in the next. And I got my tour card when I went -1 in the third tournament. Give it time. Using the most forgiving woods and irons is a good start and then work your way towards clubs with more distance.
