Alright folks, the swing changes are in, and I playtested and picked the conditions this week beforehand, and I was already planning for this to be a pretty hard week soooo.... After some weeks in South Africa, Tasmania and in some stuffy country clubs, I thought a trip out to the desert would give us a change of pace! Avondale is made by one of my personal favorite designers mayday_golf83 , who is also the co-designer of a recent promotion event course! (The Flamingo) Avondale consistently challenges your skills at approaching the green, with some severe sloping and definitely some preferential angles worth learning so you can optimize your attack on this course! Good Luck out there, This is a great week to get a leg up on the competition by being the first to adapt to the new patch!

Still here... π
Played really solid tee to green and should have easily made the cut... but on the green I am Beer League level at best. Threw away at least a dozen shots in the first two rounds.
-4 & -4 for -8 and the end of my Plat career??? (Currently on three red thingies)
Best wishes Frans

I'm at -4 through two and 1 demo mark is the most I think I will get. Some/decent chance of zero marks for me. I couldn't seem to hit GIRs to save my life in R1 and then in R2 my scrambling skills were poor.

I am -14 at the cut and -15 through 4. Rounds 3 and 4 were a disaster. Every fairway was either in a bunker or lying on the side of a cliff (how does your ball even stay on some of these slopes?) Then my approach would just roll off the green. I think hole 7 in the third round I hit a triple bogey. My pitch kept going to the hole and rolling back to my feet. It was to the point I almost just quit. I know some folks like these courses but I am so over all these over-exaggerated undulations on every single course, fairway, and green. Every green is an upside down fish bowl. High winds. I just want to play golf, not mountain climb in a hurricane. Sorry for the rant. But it is getting tiring. On to next week I guess.

Well, I'm -9 thru 36H's, started rd1 Bogey-Bogey +2 thru 2 faught back to finish -5. Rd2 I had 2 more Bogeys ( 5 in total ) but I can truly say that I felt more rewarded for battling back to -9 playing my new swing than I would have done before. Same as the last however many weeks I will probably miss yet another cut, but I enjoyed my battle Good Luck all, play Well.

Told myself I would take this week off to figure out my swing. 29 straight weeks of action here at TGC.
Guess what? Couldn't help myself, played my rounds yesterday.
Felt good, fired off solid back to back practice rounds of -7 apiece. Of course, go to play the real thing, and tempo is completely gone, resulting in E R1.
Hop right into R2, no more practice, fire off a -6 with 3 bogeys.
Played out the final 2, and finished up at -15 through 4. Happy with R2-R4, but looks like R1 will cost me. Hopefully -6 can avoid any demos (for the 7th straight week?). We will see.
Not sure how it is on other systems, but it's incredible on XB how slow you have to swing to get a perfect.

Not sure if we played this on the default settings any round, but I wasn't a fan of this setup. Too many jagged bounces that penalized good shots IMO. A couple very borderline pin positions as well. Definitely some red very nearby. Looking forward to seeing how high these scores will be - I'm guessing pretty high.

Round 3 is actually on "easier than default" settings with moderate instead of the default firm greens! Trying for variety a bit, think you might like next week as it has pretty flat fairways in comparison.

FWIW, I thought the previous two selections and setups were top notch.

-18 through 2 rounds, I'm surprised and pleased. It's like an entirely new game, which is good because I was completely disinterested in playing before. I'm sure I'll screw up the final 2 rounds per usual but for now it's nice being near the top of the leaderboard and making the cut is always a plus.

A lot of mixed emotions for me in round 2 because I wanted to make the cut and show everybody I can do just fine without the red fast, but I also wanted to move as quickly as possible to the phase in my life where I never have to hit a shot on that stupid course ever again.

After youβve had the fun of the first round or two on this course, it starts to grind bad. The fairways are ridic.
38% GIR and -13 at the cut, pretty damn average golf, constantly a yard or two off on approaches getting kicked off greens.
Edit: will be cut watching, but finished at -34. Happy itβs over. Plus side, no bogeys.

I like to pop into the plat threads from time to time and read all the positive, loving, and kind comments. It truly is a magical place and it's one of the best places I've found to recharge and restore my faith in humanity.
Thanks everyone! β€π€π

So... the update arrived and I was doing surprisly good for a fast shooters in the past 5 months. Out of blue, I decided to switch to 60Hz one hour before playing my tournament. I guess a -9 on an easy course convinced me I was ready! πππ
Played -4, then -3. I got busted shooting at 92% all day long. I could have waited at least to wednesday before playing this! I'm gonna rate this move as 8.8 out of 10 on the scale of stupidity!

Bring on the demo marks. Not like I was playing great, but on in two at the 9th and make a 9? Really? I literally had my first putt from above the hole nearly stop at the top of the ridge, finished off the green by 10 yards. Ball came back to my feet after both coming up just short of the ridge and going too far up the slope above the pin. Got tilted, didn't give a crap about the rest of my round, just wanted it to be over.
