This is week 31 on the Elite Tour at Strathlorne by b101. I know we have quite a few new people and lost a few people to promotions thanks to the promo event last week, so welcome to the new folks. We are in a bit of a World Cup of Design stretch run of courses if you haven't noticed yet and that continues this week with Strathlorne. I enjoyed this place a lot for the looks and feel of the plot and the golf is excellent as well. I think it will provide a good challenge for everyone, but there are definitely birdies to be found. Course is meant to mimic a lot of coastal regions of golf, so we cranked the winds a bit for a few rounds to match that vibe. Enjoy! From the designer's thread: Strathlorne takes inspiration from real-life courses I'd love to play: Cabot Cliffs, Friars Head, Old Sandwich, Royal County Down and the courses I've most loved in-game: Falling Water, Windstone and New Highland Dunes, to name but a few. Basically, turned into a tribute to RJWils and Coore/Crenshaw. The aim was to have the course play as varied as possible - like Cabot, river, cliffs and woodland holes intertwine and you return to each at different points in the round. It's meant to be played with medium winds minimum (and firm fairways - dunno whether Highlands bug still applies) and different directions make each hole play considerably differently. Whilst there's a lot of width, you'll want to pick your spots with care and use the slopes to move the ball.

Started off well in the opening 3 rounds hitting -9 -14 -11 then had to go to work, got back and made the stupidist decision of my life which was to play round 4 at 9pm UK time on a Sunday night.... of course tempo roulette ensued costing me bogies galore and a -3 last round. I knew it would happen but did it anyway so no one else to blame but myself and hb's hamster driven servers

Still having an interesting isue where I have a round where I just can't putt. Last week I opened with a -7 and then couldn't putt in round 2 and missed the cut. This week it was even more severe going -2 then -11 for the -13 turn which might barely make it, we'll see!
Rest of my game was dead on! Not a single water ball or OB all 4 rounds! -2 -11 -7 -7, -27 for the week.

I love courses like this that are a little more open off the tee but still require you to think about the best place to put your drive to attack the pin on your approach. Still best to hit it in the right spot but you're not completely dead if you miss it. -10 in first round was smooth sailing the whole way around for me. -5 in second though was a little disappointing. Had a lot of very narrowly missed putts so felt like the -5 is about the WORST score I could have shot. Hopefully -15 is enough for me to FINALLY make a dang cut here in Elite!

First 2 rounds red fasting -14 Second 2 rounds after update -6
Since this I have had a few practice rounds and must say I am definitely preferring the perfect tempo game. Whether I’ll be good enough for this tour is another story. Will be interesting to see next weeks leaderboard!
Also finally what a fantastic course. This is has been the best tour I’ve been on so far in terms of course selection, bravo 👏

I made a cut! Just in time for them to change a major game mechanic, haha. Thankfully got rounds 3 and 4 in before the change so could still post half decent scores of -6 and -10 to get me to -31 total. We'll see what the RF nerf does to scoring overall. I'm guessing not much. I stopped trying to RF my drives a while ago (unless trying to juice a little extra distance) and have always tried for perfect with irons and wedges. Biggest adjustment for me is going to be on pitches and flops. I was never good with either of those shots and because of the severe distance penalties on them if you don't hit 100% I always tried to 101% and fast them as that was a better/more controllable outcome to me than hitting a pitch 95% and coming up 20 yards short.

Managed to get 3 rounds in before the change in the swing mechanic. Properly grinded for the most uncomfortable -1 ever in round 4 :-)
As someone who relied on the red fast for most shots unless I needed to close a big gap in my bag with a slow, this is going to be a huge change for me. Will mean an inevitable slide down the rankings back down to CC but that’s probably where I should always have been anyway so I’m not complaining! Not a huge fan of the inconsistency now between the red fast and the red slow but I suspect that’ll get tidied up in time. All in all this is a positive change I think and will mean the better, more consistent players will rise up the leagues.
Lovely course and I enjoyed it much more in round 4 having a genuine fear of not knowing where the ball was going. 17 and 18 were properly uncomfortable with a 2-way miss in play :-)
