SkyBlueBen I'll open with a pair of eights. What YOU got? Thought so. Onward! Ahhhh, you must have just started your second round when I glanced at the LB because you were on -8 when I finished. I see I'm still trailing in the great man's wake!! I'm happy in CC-E anyway

Looking forward to botching another one of these! 3 tries and always just barely missed out on anything, so I'm setting the over/under of missing a promotion by 1 stroke this time around.
Haven't started yet mind you, but I can see my future already. Even if it is pretty hazy right now. Or am I just bluffing? Who knows? Because I don't!

Each week I like to take notes and make it like a preview for the CC courses. Hopefully, the architects for this course don't mind if I add some notes here - let me know if I'm off with any of the info so I don't mislead people. I also watched the stream for when The Flamingo opened with Jeremy and Victor playing through the holes. I had a lot of fun on the course and watching the stream. Creative, strategic, entertaining. THE FLAMINGO
Architects: Jeremy Mayo & Victor Lane "Welcome to The Flamingo, a custom designed project for Golf Goodr by special request, featuring characteristics asked for by the company, and embellished by the creative minds of mayday91283 and VctryLnSprts. The task was to make a Miami-based tournament course that offered a challenging experience from the back tees and an approachable golf course from the middle tees, while also filling the course with bright colors that represented the GolfGoodr brand. The Flamingo is meant to be enjoyed by all, give players a chance to make birdies, eagles, and maybe even a few flamingos along the way (what GolfGoodr calls bogeys), but hopefully it’s just a fun experience with plenty of eye candy too."On their thread, they have some excellent coverage with overhead diagrams of every hole. tgctours.proboards.com/thread/27326/flamingoTees: Red: 6613 Green: 6573 White: 6483 Blue: 6596 Yardages go by -red, green, white, blue tees. Pin placements will also be a factor. Handicap currently: 70.0 So we're off to Miami to play the flat tropical course, The Flamingo for some golf, some sun, some sunglasses, some parties and some flamingos. Some of the holes are templates, some have Plateau greens. Holes 1 and 10 share a double green and when seen from above they look like Goodr sunglasses with a nose bunker in between. LOL There's a lot of fun things on the course and it's gonna feel like spring break being out there. I played a couple of rounds here and I'll be rockin' my Goodr gear when I play. I think this course is a lot easier than the other promo events so it might be best to be aggressive. The greens can get real tough so having wedge approaches in will help. 1.. “Donkey Goggles” Par 4 (408,400, 391, 442)
Get those Goodr shades on, The Flamingo opens its wings with a light dogleg right par-4 that doesn’t allow too much distance off the tee due to its fairway bunkering. Hitting driver or wood up to about 280 yards should be sufficient enough to have an easy wedge approach in. A full driver will have room off the blue tee. Split in four with a cross-shaped ridge, the green can be a lag putting nightmare, with back left pins being easiest to handle. 2.. “Bloody Mary Bar” Par 3 (216, 199, 205, 174) #3 handicap
It’s a bit early for a drink but still we could get a little bloody since there’s some length to this Redan-lite par-3. Angled left, the green is partially blocked off by a greenside bunker left. It’s possible to run the ball up to pins on the front right half and use a draw and ride the slopes to the back left pins. 3.. “Booze Cruise” Par 5 (545, 539, 552, 571)
Cruise your way to a birdie here on what can be viewed as The Flamingo’s ‘Road’ hole. Despite varying yardage and wind, the itsy bitsy centerline bunker won’t affect most drives. All four yardages allow eagle opportunities but eastern winds make birdie the more realistic possible result. Remember there’s OB all along the left and behind the green marked by white stakes. 4.. “Fore Play” Par 3 (218, 188, 178, 211)
Yes with lots of fans, the errant tee shot, shouting ‘fore’ may be required here especially from the red and blue tees where this “Eden” template hole plays over 200 yards. The green is reasonable but a challenge. 5.. “Mint Julep” Par 4 (469, 439, 461, 468)
With a light fade, this crucial fairway can be conquered, just avoid the left rough by the tents or it will be an ominous approach. Stay below the hole on the front spiked “Punchbowl” pins and get over the green’s heavily undulating midsection to have any chance at birdie concerning back pins. Hopefully birdies are available and not those ‘flamingos’ (bogeys). 6.. “Exile” Par 3 (179, 132, 147, 149)
Maybe a vacation in “Exile” will do after that strong “Mint Julep”. Hopefully the tee ball won’t be too tipsy since it’ll be headed straight towards an island green with a “Maiden” like green. Best to aim at the center of the putting surface to play safe or choose the pin’s green compartment if feeling more daring. Get a hole-in-one here and you can win a brand new Goodr car. (Um, actually, no we won’t be winning a car.) 7.. “Respawner” Par 3 (233, 240, 222, 230) #1 handicap
Don’t be nervous as the city’s citizens look on from the high rise buildings nearby. We play a second straight par-3: the Biarritz green’s swale is significant and could cause major headaches. With such a long tee shot, it’ll be hard to land the ball where needed depending on the pin location. 8.. “Rage Quit” Par 5 (520, 532, 515, 525)
Framed by the city on the left and water to the right, this par-5 plays a bit like a Prize Dogleg and a semi-Cape so the tee shot can take on as much of the fairway that wraps to the right around the water as one needs. As long as the ball doesn’t go for a swim, it’s an easy birdie hole. 9.. “Kraken’s Garden” Par 4 (306, 331, 323, 310)
If a fade is in the repertoire, this is a gimme birdie especially if playing safe off the tee with a wood. This drivable par-4 has its right side locked with trees and water. A ‘fast’ tempo won’t work here. The door’s locked on the left side as everything to the left of the path is OB. The only way into ‘Kraken’s Garden’ with driver is an almost perfect tee shot. Off the red and blue tees, a strong northwest wind can help a 3-wood reach the green. 10.. “Red Eye” Par 4 (421, 438, 438, 420)
Hopefully the tropical drinks at the clubhouse were thirst quenching but don’t stick your head in the sand now, there’s a whole back nine to play. If you have a half shot driver in your bag, there are a few times when it will come in handy on this course. This fairway gets real narrow at the 300 yard mark so a nice partial driver will be sufficient to leave an easy wedge approach to an undulating green that provides backboards for the front pins. The green is the right eye of the sunglasses with the nose bunker left. Note the little sunglasses bunker right of the fairway. 11.. “Midnight Ramble” Par 5 (575, 527, 521, 522)
Based on the ‘Road’ hole template, this could be called the ‘City’ template as the city begins to interfere with the actual play on the golf course. By taking it over the building and trees that skirt the right side of the hole, a tee ball that reaches the right side of the fairway will have the best angle in for an eagle chance. Playing safe to the left side of the fairway may still result in eagle from the green, white, and blue tees. If the ball goes sailing over the green it may literally go sailing in the boats that are parked just beyond the shallow green. The entire right side and behind the green are obviously OB. 12.. “Valhalla” Par 3 (120, 140, 140, 140)
The beach left of the green is clear now but the parties will be rockin’ and the golfers will be drinkin’ come nighttime as The Flamingo is hosting a beach party every night for tournament week. Get the wedge game in order to avoid the beach bunker left and dock right. Pinpoint precision should be easier with such a short par-3 but don’t go long if the pin is at the front. If the car wasn’t won with a hole-in-one on 6, this would be the hole to score an ace. This is the 'Short' of the course. 13.. “Sand Trap Queen” Par 4 (454, 445, 446, 455)
No need to get beaky about this hole if bogey is the result. Long bunkers line the insulate the fairway on both sides before the hole heads right but asks for a draw approach to avoid the greenside sand. A light swale cuts through the green vertically. 14.. “PBR Me ASAP” Par 4 (465, 470, 430, 474) #4 handicap
Don’t let this hole ruffle your feathers and get your shades on, we’re playing parallel to the beach on the right. Wood/iron or driver/wedge is the choice as a major bunker crosses the fairway at the 300-yard mark. Multiple flat spots are created by the heavy undulation located in the green’s middle so being aggressive towards the hole location may help. 15.. “Pineapple” Par 4 (401, 428, 402, 428)
Stop and smell the flowers as the pineapple daiquiris are handed out. This short par-4 is a sure birdie chance. Par may not be enough against the rest of the field. A simple driver and wedge will be enough to reach but perhaps taking the right side of the fairway is best to avoid the ‘Lion’s Mouth’ pot bunker on the approach. 16.. “Flamingo” Par 3 (174, 177, 193, 197)
With a hole-in-one the prize is your own pet flamingo. Will it be odd to walk a flamingo down the street? Maybe this isn’t the best prize but the hole will present some birdies to those who provide an accurate draw from the tee since the green may be the easiest at The Flamingo. 17.. “Mulligan” Par 4 (315, 325, 333, 303) #2 handicap
Play this safe and a birdie can be had. Try to sneak it through the chute of palm trees to the left and over the wide pond and the result can range from eagle to double bogey. Just a bit over 200 yards are allowed off the tee until the ball hits water. Go with iron/wedge or hybrid/pitch as it’s probably not worth going for this drivable par-4 and those who do may want a mulligan. 18.. “Blackout” Par 5 (595, 620, 586, 573)
The hole may not black you out but all the drinking of mint juleps, pineapple daiquiris and bloody marys may. A chance at redemption after dealing with lots of holes featuring water and some menacing greens. A draw drive and a fade approach are optimal on this closer. Eagles will only fly your way when on the blue or white tees. On days using the green and red tees, it’s best to play it safe as a 3-shot par-5 since the water on the right greenside will probably swallow the ball. The green has a Punchbowl at the front and a flatter area at the back. Like I've said I write some notes and then everyone kicks but buttootie anyway without the notes. LOL Also the thread they created has all the overview pics

I’m regularly a CC-K player. I dropped a -26 after 4 rounds at The Flamingo. I kept waiting to crumble and it just didn’t happen by some miracle.
How do promotions work for special events?

No leaderboard for this event?
Anyway, a meagre -5 in R1. Not really getting to grips with this place. I find it easy to post pars but birdies are more difficult for me to come by.

First time playing this course and gotta say that was a very fun course. But...probably the most infuriating rounds I’ve ever played. After playing a practice round where I shot -8 that felt like it should have been -14 if not for the endless amount of lip outs. Then played my 4 rounds and the lip outs never ended...never seen anything like it and started counting them up mid first round and ended with 14 of them. Not that I would have promoted up even if I hit all of them but still would have been better than the clunker -19 I put up. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Nice bogey free -11 for round 1, I was able to maintain a consistent enough tempo on my approach shots to set up numerous easy birdie opportunities. I did miss a couple but also nailed a couple of longer more difficult ones, including one on a par 5 after hitting my tee shot into the water, so it balanced out in a way.
Currently in CCA, hopefully I can continue that form in the rest of the event and maybe move up.
